Wits Students Surgical Society The society is a subcommittee of the Wits Medical Students Council (MSC) and is a member of the South African Society of Surgeons in Training (SASSiT).

Founded in 2010 with the assistance of the Department of Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand, the Wits Students Surgical Society is a platform for medical students and aspiring medical specialists in the art and science of surgery. Our core objectives are:

- Gain valuable surgical skills
- Collaborate with other surgi

cal societies
- Provide a platform for relationships to develop between students and surgeons

The society is well established and continues to grow and mature with every event. The committee actively works to provide members with events, activities and experiences that will enlighten and develop them as they pursue careers in surgery.

SURGSOC UNWRAPPED (Mid-Year edition) - Part 1 📸

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to and how the year is shaping up! 🩺🥼

We kicked off with PR and hosted our very first SurgSoc Family Day, where new and returning members came together over games and drinks. The energy was incredible, setting the tone for an exciting year ahead.!
We also ran our Valentine’s and Easter Pop-Ups, packed with games, sweet treats, and a community handprint canvas🎨🍬 ! These were later donated to Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Home during our Easter Egg Handout - a special moment that combined creativity, community, and giving back.

Stay tuned for more Family Days and Pop-Ups coming later this year 😆
