Theology Dictionary: What is biblical exegesis?

Biblical exegesis is the careful study of a passage of Scripture to understand what the text means in its context. It asks what the author communicated, how the passage fits into the wider biblical message, and what its meaning implies for faithful teaching and application.

Rather than imposing our own ideas on Scripture, we seek to understand what God's Word actually says.

Celebrating our Alumni in Chivi, Zimbabwe

We thank God for the opportunity to gather with Christ Seminary alumni in Chivi, Zimbabwe, for a meaningful time of fellowship, encouragement, and reflection on the calling to serve Christ and His Church.

The Alumni Conference was a wonderful reminder that theological education extends beyond the classroom. Our graduates continue to serve in different communities and ministry contexts, carrying forward the biblical training and ministry formation received at Christ Seminary.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with our alumni, hear about their ministry journeys, encourage one another, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a Seminary community.

Meet Hendry Mashile, Registrar of Christ Seminary.

Hendry provides leadership across academic administration, institutional records and the student lifecycle, helping ensure that students are supported throughout their journey at the Seminary. With an interdisciplinary background spanning theological training, strategic management and higher education administration, Hendry brings together ministry, academic and institutional perspectives in his work.

His role reminds us that preparing men for ministry involves more than what happens in the classroom. It also requires strong governance, responsible administration and systems that support students as they are equipped for service in the Church.

What can God do through a life equipped by His Word?

For Pastor Kwacha Simwaka, the journey began in Malawi, where he came to faith in Christ at 18. His desire to serve Christ led him to pursue theological training at Christ Seminary in Polokwane.

After completing his studies at Christ Seminary, Kwacha continued his pastoral training at The Master’s Seminary in California. Today, he serves by helping pastors study Scripture diligently and teach it accurately, mentoring students, and investing in the strengthening of Christ Seminary graduates.

His journey reflects something at the heart of theological education: we train not only for today, but for generations of ministry to come.

From student to pastor.
