Making Waves in Sport and Leadership

We are proud to celebrate Collins Saliboko, Mandela University Management Practice student, Madibaz swimmer, Paris Olympian, and now Africa’s newest representative on the World Aquatics Athletes’ Committee.

From growing up in Tanzania to competing on the world stage, Collins continues to inspire both in the pool and in the boardroom. His new role will see him championing the voices of African swimmers at the highest levels of governance, shaping the future of the sport with integrity and vision.

Congratulations, Collins. On this incredible achievement, your Madibaz and Management Practice family are behind you all the way! 💙💛

Today, the Department of Management Practice had the privilege of hosting a tea and coffee gathering in honor of our esteemed former Heads of Department, Prof. Norman Kemp and Dr. E.J. Zeelie.

It was a wonderful occasion filled with warm conversations, light refreshments, and the joy of reconnecting with those who have played such an important role in shaping our Department.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in making this gathering truly memorable!

As part of the Peri-Urban Project, Dr. Paul Tai-Hing, together with Vuyolwethu Nyati from the Department of Management Practice, visited the Missionvale Care Centre to engage with local community members.

This visit wasn’t just a talk; it was an inspiring session focused on turning ideas into action and marketing your business from the ground up.

Dr. Paul Tai-Hing empowered aspiring entrepreneur community members with practical advice on how to start and market a business using the resources around them, proving that success doesn’t require much, just the right mindset, community support, and a solid idea.

His message? Start small. Use what you have. Market with purpose. And just do it.

This is NMU's way of showing up, not just in the classrooms, but in communities to change the world!

On 25 July 2025, the School of Management Sciences Director, Dr. Paul Tai-Hing, attended the official launch of the Social Consciousness and Sustainable Futures (SCSF) module, hosted by the DVC for Learning and Teaching at Nelson Mandela University.

This impactful, values-driven module aims to integrate disciplinary knowledge with socially conscious and sustainable thinking, empowering students to become well-rounded, purpose-driven graduates.

From Semester 2 of 2025, the SCSF module will become compulsory for students in the Faculties of Law, Education, and Humanities, with other faculties expected to adopt the module from Semester 1, 2026.

The event was beautifully elevated by the NMU Choir, who delivered a powerful performance of African songs, celebrating culture, identity, and unity in alignment with the module’s vision.

A proud moment for Nelson Mandela University as we take a bold step towards producing graduates who are not only academically equipped, but also socially conscious and ready to shape sustainable futures.
