The George Municipality and Transformation Office officially launched the Kasi Pride Imbizo on the 6th of October 2026, bringing together stakeholders and community partners committed to advancing inclusivity, equality, and LGBTQIA+ rights.🏳️‍🌈

Among those in attendance was Nelson Mandela University’s Prism Society, whose participation highlighted the importance of creating safe, inclusive spaces and strengthening collaboration in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The launch marks an important step towards meaningful dialogue, visibility, and transformation within the Nelson Mandela University George Campus community. 🏫

Celebrating diversity | Championing inclusion.🏳️‍🌈

As part of International Pride Month, the Nelson Mandela University Transformation Office hosts Rainbow Wednesdays, a vibrant campus activation creating a welcoming and inclusive space for students and staff to connect, express themselves and celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities.

Through colour, creativity, conversation and community, the activation captured the spirit of a university that values diversity and believes that everyone deserves to feel seen, respected and a sense of belonging.

From rainbow flags and creative placards to moments of connection and joy on all around our university campuses.m, Rainbow Wednesdays is a powerful reminder that inclusion is more than a conversation, it is something we actively create, nurture and celebrate together.

At Nelson Mandela University, our diversity is our strength, our community is our pride, and our commitment to inclusion continues beyond Pride Month.

The Transformation Office invites all students and staff to participate in Rainbow Wednesday, a campus-wide Pride activation aimed at creating a relaxed, welcoming and interactive space for connection, celebration and engagement. Rainbow Wednesday provides an opportunity for the university community to come together, connect with one another, have fun and celebrate the diversity that contributes to a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.

The activation forms part of the Pride Month commemorations and reflects the Transformation Office’s ongoing commitment to fostering spaces where diversity, inclusion, dignity and belonging are valued and celebrated.

The session will provide an opportunity to engage with an article through collective reading and discussion, encouraging reflection, learning and dialogue around diverse q***r experiences and perspectives.

On Friday, 2 October 2026, the Transformation Office hosted the inaugural Sihamba Sithetha Hike under the Singamadoda? Redefining Positive Masculinities subcluster.

More than just a hike, it was an opportunity for men to step away from the everyday, connect with one another, and create space for honest conversations about masculinity, identity, relationships, wellbeing, and what it means to be a positive man in our communities.

From walking the trail to sharing stories, reflections and laughter, the day reminded us that meaningful conversations can happen when we simply make the time to walk together.
