Dear First Year Applicant

If you have been accepted into On-Campus and accredited Off-campus residence you are expected to arrive on Friday, the 28th of January.

If you have applied for funding you need to provide funding confirmation failing which accommodation will not be provided or you will be liable for your accommodation fees.

If you are paying personally ensure that you have enough funds to pay the deposit of R6600 directly to the off-campus residence.

We wish you safe travels to Gqeberha.

Regards
OCHO

NSFAS STUDENTS MOVING CAMPUSES

We have noticed that students are moving campuses after accommodation costing was sent to NSFAS. This results in a huge task to adjust the allowances accordingly. It will also affect the claim made to NSFAS, which may leave the student with debt at the end of the academic year.

According to NSFAS guidelines, the institution must submit the correct accommodation costs for each student. Where a student has changed accommodation, the institution is required to inform NSFAS.

Where the institution has claimed for an incorrect allowance type which resulted in an under payment by NSFAS, the change in allowance type must be approved by NSFAS prior to such a claim being submitted.

Under no circumstances is a change of address allowed. Students from the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro are not eligible to stay in on or off-campus residences.

Regards
OCHO

Off-Campus Housing Office & Vacation Accommodation

Off-Campus Accommodation offers alternative accommodation for students who are not able to secure space in on-campus residences, and take the form of accredited large properties (more than 20 beds) or small properties (less than 20 beds). The Off-Campus Housing Office (OCHO) accredits accommodation that is within walking distance from the University or that is on the route of Nelson Mandela University's shuttle services. The range of flats, apartments, houses and communal residences all comply with the minimum standards as set by the University Accreditation policy. Students must all apply via the Off-Campus Housing Office (OCHO) for all off-campus residences. A database of all accredited properties is made available to interested applicants.
