Nelson Mandela University: Department of Industrial Engineering Industrial Engineers work in the design and improvement of production lines or manufacturing systems. Am I interested in math and science?

If you have a flair for solving problems and for doing a job in the most efficient way possible, then Industrial Engineering is a profession that you should consider. Industrial Engineers learn how to harness the use os a diverse range of resources such as people, technology and machanics in a configuration that will achieve the optimum results. In their studies they also learn how to analyse the w

ay work is done and how people and machines interact so that they can design the way to get the desired outcome in the cheapest, fastest and most effective manner. More and more they are also used in services such as hospitals, banks and transport. The work of an Industrial Engineer is very diverse and in their work they may be working on site, in an office or at a design table. Although much of their work is purely technical, they also interact extensively with people and therefore people skills are also desired. At NMMU the Diploma in Industrial Engineering is a popular three year course that will equip you with the necessary skills and experiance to assist any organisation to perform its operations in the safest, fastest and cheapest manner. Am I interested in business and how various industries operate? Do I want a career that involves a lot of problem-solving and decision-maiking skills? Do I want a career that helps people and the economy save money, time, and resources? If you answerd "yes" to these qquestions, then INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING is on your future! Work hard, earn your degree, and enter a great career!
