Meet RN Zhavandré van der Merwe, PhD Candidate & Nurse Specialist in Advanced Wound Care

The growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance demands a smarter, evidence-based approach to wound infection management. As healthcare professionals, how do we make informed decisions that support healing while minimizing unnecessary antimicrobial use?

Join RN Zhavandré van der Merwe, PhD Candidate and Nurse Specialist in Advanced Wound Care, as she explores the role of Microbial Binding Dressings (MBDs) within Modern Wound Care Practice. This engaging session will examine the latest evidence supporting microbial binding technologies and their place within antimicrobial stewardship strategies.

Drawing on current research and clinical experience, Zhavandré will provide practical guidance on the use of MBDs across the four clinical pathways of wound management, helping clinicians understand where these innovative dressings can support infection prevention and management while reducing reliance on traditional antimicrobial agents.

Whether you are a nurse, doctor, podiatrist, pharmacist, or wound care practitioner, this session will offer valuable insights into evidence-based wound infection management and the responsible use of advanced wound care technologies.
