UNISA Leadership Extends Support at the 2nd National Records Management Conference
The opening session of the 2nd National Records Management Conference featured messages of support from UNISA leadership, highlighting the importance of collaboration, research and innovation in shaping the future of archives and records management.
Prof Mashao Delivers a Message of Support
On behalf of the University of South Africa (UNISA), Prof Mashao, Deputy Executive Dean of the College of Human Sciences (CHS), delivered a message of support at the conference.
Prof Mashao congratulated the organisers for creating an important platform that brings together practitioners, researchers and academics in archives and records management. He highlighted the value of engaging with emerging and intelligent technologies and exploring how these innovations can strengthen records management processes, particularly within the public sector.
Prof Makutla Mojapelo Appreciates the NARSSA–UNISA Partnership
Prof Makutla Mojapelo, Chair of the Department of Information Science, also delivered a message of support during the opening session.
In his address, Prof Mojapelo expressed his appreciation to the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa (NARSSA) for choosing UNISA as a partner in organising the conference. He further acknowledged the valuable contributions and collaboration of all participating partners, including the South African Society of Archivists (SASA).
The conference, jointly organised by the Department of Information Science at UNISA, NARSSA and SASA, provides an important platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing around the evolving role of archives and records management in an era of intelligent technologies, ethics and digital transformation.
