🎓 7 YEARS OF HELPING FUTURE CA(SA)S. ONE LESSON KEEPS COMING BACK.

The students who prepare early generally have more time to understand their work, practise questions and correct mistakes before the pressure builds.

If you are planning to do CTA or PGDA in 2027, here are my three tips:

✅ Start revising the topics you struggled with this year. Those gaps have a way of following you into the next level.

✅ Build a study routine before classes begin. Even a few hours every week can make a difference.

✅ Find the right academic support early. Having someone explain difficult concepts, review your answers and show you where you’re losing marks can save you hours of frustration.

At TipTop CA, we’ve spent years helping students through this journey. Seeing our former students become CA(SA)s, and now parents, professionals and leaders, is something special. ❤️

Our 2027 early enrolment is open for UNISA CTA and Milpark PGDA academic support. Classes begin on 31 January 2027.

Dear CTA and PGDA Candidates, your exams are now closer than ever.

At this point, I just want to remind you of a few things I often tell candidates before an exam:

On the exam day, the only thing that matters is your presence. You are here now, stay focused, and avoid distractions before the exam.

Read the required twice. I always say 50% of the exam is in the required.

Plan your answer. Spend 2–3 minutes identifying the applicable principles, the decisions to be made and how you are going to conclude.

Aim to secure the easy marks early. Write that basic point down and build your answer from there. The examiner marks what they can see, not what you thought and didn’t write. Just communicate.

Write down your logic and calculations clearly, stay calm, manage your time and attempt all questions.

And when you are done, avoid the postmortem. What matters then is preparing yourself for the next paper.

🤞🏽 I wish you the absolute best with your exams! You got this!

Results are out 🎊 Congratulations on progressing to the final. But, If you're still in the race, QQ - What should you do differently before the APC?

Since the results came out, I’ve received more requests for support from candidates preparing for the exam.

I see this pattern often: candidates ask for help when there is very little time left to work through the feedback and practise.

My advice : give yourself time to use the support you are paying for.

You can still join us for the remaining period. We have two ways to help.

Detailed Script Review

We go through your answers and explain what needs attention and how to improve. You get specific feedback on your work, so you know where to focus your preparation.

Candidates have rated our reviews highly for the detail in the feedback. This is a practical place to start and experience how we teach before joining the full programme.

APC Mentorship

Join the live classes currently running and get support for the remaining period. Recordings from the past few months are available, so you can catch up on earlier lessons while attending the current sessions.

We help you work through cases, organise your answers and practise applying your knowledge to the decisions in front of you.

Both services are currently discounted. A further discount is available when you start with Script Review and then upgrade to mentorship.

The earlier you join, the more time we have to review your work, help you make changes and see how you apply them in your next attempt.

Send me a message with “APC”, and let’s discuss where you need help.

Are you writing your SAICA APC final exams this year. Becoming a Chartered Accountant is built on two pillars: individual effort and the quality of the people around you.

At APC level, collaboration becomes especially important.

The candidates you prepare with shape how you think. The people you discuss cases with sharpen your judgement. The mentors guiding you help you understand what the assessment is really asking, how to read the case, identify triggers, structure your thinking and communicate at the level expected of a future Chartered Accountant.

That is the work we have been doing at APC Studio | Trueforth Education for years.

We mentor APC candidates through case preparation, research, technical integration, professional judgement, communication and exam technique.

We have seen candidates who struggled for several attempts finally pass after joining our programme. Some had written APC more than six times before passing with us.

That experience has taught us something very clearly: the right mentorship can change the quality of your preparation completely.

APC rewards candidates who can think, connect information, exercise judgement and communicate professionally.

That is exactly what we train.

If you are preparing for APC 2026, surround yourself with people who understand the journey and know how to prepare you for it.

💥The final month before the CTA and PGDA examinations should begin with something very simple: go back to the tests you have already written.

📣There is a lot of value in learning from corrections. You already attempted those questions under pressure, with limited time, and with the knowledge you had at that point. Now you have the opportunity to go back calmly and understand what actually happened. Where did you lose marks? Which principle did you misunderstand? Which topic did you know, but fail to apply properly? Which areas still feel unclear?

That is where revision should begin.

👌🏽Revision is really about mastering principles that you have already encountered. You are revisiting them with more time, more experience and a better understanding of what the examiner expects. Before you begin the full one month revision programme, use your previous tests to identify the topics that still need attention. Those are the areas you should brush up first.

💯You should also spend some time going through previous IAC questions. Look at the last three IAC sessions and pay attention to the topics that were tested, how they were tested and the direction in which the questions are moving. CTA is preparing you for IAC, so those questions can give you a useful indication of the areas that continue to receive attention and the type of thinking that is expected from candidates.

Once you understand where your weaknesses are, create a revision timetable and be disciplined with it.

🔥Your timetable should also allow you to breathe. There must be days where you press hard and days where you slow down, put your house in order, organise your notes and prepare yourself for the next module. Revision works better when there is a proper transition from one subject to another.

💯Try to avoid mixing too many modules in one day. Give yourself enough time to stay with a topic until the principle makes sense. Some topics are bigger than others. Some topics carry more weight. Some topics are still giving you problems. Those are the areas where you need to spend proper time now.

Spacing the modules also helps. You can spend time on one module, move to another, then come back to the first one after a few days. That second visit is important because it tells you whether you actually understood the work or whether it only felt familiar at the time.

As you revise, make short notes.

🤗The purpose of those notes is to make your final revision easier. You should reach a point where you know where important information is, where your flags are, what you highlighted and which pages contain the principles you usually struggle to remember.

Get used to your textbooks and standards now. Get used to finding things quickly. Your references should start becoming familiar to you.

🤞🏽Be careful about relying too much on AI during this period. AI can help you understand something, but your examination will test what you can do with the resources available to you on the day. If your brain becomes used to asking ChatGPT every time you are unsure, you may weaken the habit of going back to the textbook, the standard or your own notes.

Use AI to clarify. Use your prescribed material to build your examination habits.

💯Another important thing is to ask questions, but ask questions properly.

Attempt the work first. Think through it. Make the mistake if you have to. Then ask the question.

It is much easier for someone to correct your logic when you have already shown how you were thinking. That correction usually stays with you because you understand exactly where your reasoning went wrong.

🎉Time management also needs to be practised now.

Time management begins before you start writing. It begins with understanding the required, planning the question, identifying the important information and understanding the context in which the decision or calculation is being made.

When you understand the question properly, you spend less time writing things that do not matter.

The final month is therefore about putting everything together.

Your corrections.

Your weak areas.

Your textbooks.

Your flags.

Your short notes.

Your question practice.

Your time management.

Your understanding of the IAC direction.

And your ability to move from one module to another without losing what you have already revised.

And lastly, pray.

📣Have faith that you are going to make it.

There is something important about believing in the person you are working towards becoming. The clearer that picture becomes, the easier it becomes to remain disciplined, to keep going when you are tired and to continue correcting yourself even when the work feels difficult.

Use this month properly.

Go back.

Correct.

Understand.

Practise.

Rest.

Return again.

And keep believing.

🤗I wish every CTA and PGDA candidate the very best with the final revision period.
