Word of Wisdom

"A self-fulfilling prophecy means that what I expect is what I get. And that is true! This was scientifically proven over and over again. The world I live in, therefore, is the world I want. If I change my want, my intention, then I change my world. A fearful world is a place full of anxiety and stress. A world full of love is a place full of peace and harmony."

According to Hall (1988), there was a study done by Robert Rosenthal of Harvard University where they demonstrated that a “teacher’s high expectations have favourable effects on underprivileged students’ intellectual development” and this can serve as an educational self-fulfilling prophecy. Hall continues to state that the healing professions have long recognised that a physician’s expectations can have a formidable influence on a patient’s physical or mental health. Hall likes to call this the Pygmalion effect. Pygmalion was a sculptor in Greek mythology who carved a statue of a beautiful woman who subsequently was brought to life. George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion has a somewhat similar theme; the essence is that one person, by his effort and will, can transform another person. In the play, Elize Doolittle explains: “You see, really and truly, apart from the things anyone can pick up, the difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she’s treated. I shall always be a flower girl for Professor Higgins, because he always treats me as a flower girl, and always will; but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat me like a lady, and always will.”
Quantum physics has proven that there is an actual change in the energy field of something due to the way it is observed. With all the research done on Pygmalion and self-fulfilling prophecy, there is actual scientific proof that I invent the world I see. If it is proved that I invent the world around me, meaning that I see what I want to see, and how I want to see it in quality and quantity. What I create I can control and I am no victim. For me, this is a crucial aspect to understand. I can so easily think that I am caught up by my history, by my story, by what ‘happens’ to me. This then shows that by merely moving my attention away from any negative energy over to positive energy, away from fear over to love, I suddenly know that I am not a victim. There is thus a direct cause and effect on how my world is. I am responsible. A world full of fear can be changed to a world full of love through a decision. The choice is mine.

Word of Wisdom

"I am NEVER a victim of my circumstances. Yes, I don’t always have control over what happens, but I have full control over my reactions. To react correctly is an art that can be learned. All I have to do is learn to accept what is and use all as learning opportunities. When I do react, I react from a love perspective. That is one of Jesus’ main teachings."

In the daily living of my life, I get so used to how I live and how I react to what happens that most of my reactions are habitual. There is a world out there that I am used to and I react to it in a judgemental way. If another vehicle turns in front of me, then I react and I get so used to this reaction that I declare that this is who I am. If a spouse, family member, or friend does something then there is a familiar reaction to that behaviour and that is just ‘who I am’ I would say. The same with my thoughts. As if the thoughts in my head are happening to me. I rarely take responsibility for my thoughts. It is almost as if I think my thoughts are private and there is no reason to watch them. The problem is that my thoughts are also energy and they impact greatly on my life. Added to this reality, is that I experience the world always from my perspective. It is never real. It is just my interpretation. As things happen to me and as thoughts cross my mind, I am responsible for reacting to that from a love perspective. I have to take responsibility for my life. I am never a victim of the world I see whether it is the outer world or our inner world (thinking). I can only take responsibility for my world if I decide to live in love and
decide to react to everything from a love perspective.

Word of Wisdom

"The story of my life becomes a habit of doing things ‘my way’. To realise this is a trap is awakening. This awakening is a realisation that everything is love. Also me. To learn to see the world as it is, as it is NOW, I learn to see love."

I find myself struggling when I want to move away from a life of fear, a life focused on the outside world, to a life of love and compassion. I am so attached to my story, my view and my perception that it almost feels like I have to give up who I am. And that is a lie of the ego. What is true is that I live in this world. It is here, all around me, but what is a lie is how I see and experience this world. That is just an illusion of my fantasy of how I think things should be. What is reality is that the world is there, but it is not separate from me. To learn to see the world as it is, without my story, I learn to see that everything is love. Love is in me and in everything. This way, I am opening myself up for what is. This holy moment I am always living in is where love is. Love is in everything, NOW.

Word of Wisdom

"A wise man once said: “Understand energy and you understand everything.” To look at everything in a positive, loving way with appreciation, will produce love. And love IS God. Everything is thus just LOVE, although I can’t always perceive it this way. When I look at things differently, with love, then appreciation and compassion for everybody and everything will fill my world."

It was Einstein who said once: “Understand energy, and you understand everything.” That was almost 100 years ago. Today, there is quantum physics which confirms this and more! I know today that everything is energy and nothing more or nothing less. But I have also learned that energy is intelligent and reacts to other forces of energy. I have learned that what is and what is perceived are two different things. To look at everything negatively, will create negative energy at the source. To look at everything in a positive, loving way with appreciation, will produce love. And love IS God. Everything is thus just LOVE although I can’t always perceive it this way. When I look at things differently, with love, then I see love in everything – appreciation and compassion for everybody and everything fills my world. This way love is in my life.

Word of Wisdom

"Somebody once said: “There must be more to life than this.” Referring to a life of working, eating, sleeping, working – and don’t forget for most city dwellers – the traffic! There must be a different way to look at things. There is! I had to learn that I am NOT this physical world and all the activities that I use to fill my hours of the day. I need to recognise that I am a loving being with an ability to be happy, to be full of joy, full of peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. That is inside me, just a ‘let go’ of the physical world, away."

What I have learned from my childhood days, is to look at the physical world around me. I see people, things, and the behaviour of others. I hear what others are saying and I react defensively to that so that I can try to protect myself. The world I am used to is a world of survival of the fittest, a world where I need to fight for my existence and a world full of fear. I believe this is the world where I need to work hard. What I need to learn differently, what I need to see differently, is that I am not the physical world. I am not my body, I am not what I have, I am not what I see, not even my personality. I am also not the things that happen to me, and I am also not my story. I need to recognise instead that I am a loving being with an ability to be happy, to be full of joy, full of peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. I need to see that I can resonate with love.

Word of Wisdom

"I need to be able to see that ONLY through love, the love that Jesus came to show me, will I ever achieve serenity. For me to be able to see this, to know this with all I have, I need a clear picture of my image of God. With this clear vision, I can experience the peace I am looking for."

Everything in my life starts with my desire to have serenity! All I want is to be happy, be at peace, be joyful, calm and have quality of life! I think I am designed this way. It appears to me that every single living soul, animal, and maybe even the plants have this desire. What does this seeking for serenity mean? Am I looking for happiness, or am I maybe looking for who I really am? Or is it the same thing? Maybe the result of finding this person, who I am, will bring happiness, joy and peace. Maybe this enables me to see the real me, the me that was created according to Psalm 139. To get to this real me, I need to be able to see beyond the pain and suffering of this world. I need to be able to see love. I need to be able to see that I am one with love. Love and I, we are one. If I can see this, then I get to serenity. The only place where I can see this is now. Because in what is happening NOW, I learn to experience love, and only in love can I have real joy. Herein lies the experience of peace!

Word of Wisdom

"My negative thoughts and actions are attacks on myself. That is from a position of fear. My positive thoughts and actions done NOW, are moving me towards the peace of God. That is from a position of love."

The Bible teaches me in Gal 6:7-8 that what I sow I WILL reap. It is one of the few places in the Bible where words like “Do not be deceived” are used. As if it is saying that I must make sure I understand this concept very clearly. If I do misunderstand this, it can
cause suffering. Things that I say, do, think about, and my intention behind this, impact on my life. When things happen, I act on it and I think I do it to this or that object or that person. That is where the catch is. I don’t do it to something outside of me – I do it to myself. Whatever I do, I first do it to myself. In the understanding of this concept, that I first do EVERYTHING to myself, lies the realisation that my depression, low self-esteem, worry, anger – therefore my fears – is due to my own doing. Every negative thought or action is an ATTACK on myself. By the same token then, every positive thought or action is a move towards love. Herein lies the experience of peace!

Word of Wisdom

"Dr. Wayne Dyer said: A sense of purpose is not something that you find. It’s something that you are. Truth is not something that you look for, it is something that you live."

The purpose is ALWAYS love. My thinking tries to make me believe it is about other things but that only creates fear. As long as I work on things, having goals to achieve, I live in fear and I do not understand that it is not meaningful. The only way to get away from fear, is to accept the NOW as it is and not to resist what is. Then I feel a sense of purpose, free from fear. Herein lies the experience of peace!

Word of Wisdom

"The harder I try to change, the more mistakes I make. Only by surrendering to love, by allowing love to change me by the acceptance of the NOW, can I move over to love. I cannot get to love by what I do, but only by how I surrender."

Everything I see, hear and feel comes to me as a reflection of my perception of what is coming to me. Everything I see is therefore me. I give the meaning, the interpretation, the essence, the life to what it is. In most cases, I don’t like what I see. My reflection is not a beautiful picture – it is mostly an ugly fantasy world that scares me. And because it scares me, I have to fight it out of fear. Unfortunately, because it is based on my perception (fantasy), it is not reality – just a perception. I live in a way where I always want to change this world, change this fantasy world out there. Spouses need to be attacked, other road users are to blame, friends and family are doing me wrong. They need to change. I even go as far as focusing on making myself better to be able to fight this fight better. For instance, I want to be fitter, weigh less, be better, be more productive, find a better way, work harder at my marriage/relationships, just read another book and do another self-help programme. All of these are false approaches because there is no way I can change the world. It only supports fear. Everything I try to do will fail in the end. The blame is always with the diet, with the programme, with the weather, with my diary, with time, with the spouse, with the family member or friend or
with the taxi driver. Always something else, never me. And just there lies the key because I am the only thing that can be changed.
The fact that what I see is a reflection of me, will always be so – it can’t be changed. What can be changed is my perception – is the I. If I say, “Everything I see is me”, then the “me” is the only thing that can be changed. And I am my way of thinking. My thinking is the only place where I can change and it will work. And also, not if my thinking is my brain. My thinking is the real me. I need to transcend myself into the NOW, the place of true love, where God is, where He can touch me and I can get true salvation, where salvation means away from fear and into love. It is in giving over my attack approach towards life, to an approach of accepting what is. Then I move over to love. I cannot get to love by what I do, but only by how I give over to love. Herein lies the experience of peace!
