Word of Wisdom
"A self-fulfilling prophecy means that what I expect is what I get. And that is true! This was scientifically proven over and over again. The world I live in, therefore, is the world I want. If I change my want, my intention, then I change my world. A fearful world is a place full of anxiety and stress. A world full of love is a place full of peace and harmony."
According to Hall (1988), there was a study done by Robert Rosenthal of Harvard University where they demonstrated that a “teacher’s high expectations have favourable effects on underprivileged students’ intellectual development” and this can serve as an educational self-fulfilling prophecy. Hall continues to state that the healing professions have long recognised that a physician’s expectations can have a formidable influence on a patient’s physical or mental health. Hall likes to call this the Pygmalion effect. Pygmalion was a sculptor in Greek mythology who carved a statue of a beautiful woman who subsequently was brought to life. George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion has a somewhat similar theme; the essence is that one person, by his effort and will, can transform another person. In the play, Elize Doolittle explains: “You see, really and truly, apart from the things anyone can pick up, the difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she’s treated. I shall always be a flower girl for Professor Higgins, because he always treats me as a flower girl, and always will; but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat me like a lady, and always will.”
Quantum physics has proven that there is an actual change in the energy field of something due to the way it is observed. With all the research done on Pygmalion and self-fulfilling prophecy, there is actual scientific proof that I invent the world I see. If it is proved that I invent the world around me, meaning that I see what I want to see, and how I want to see it in quality and quantity. What I create I can control and I am no victim. For me, this is a crucial aspect to understand. I can so easily think that I am caught up by my history, by my story, by what ‘happens’ to me. This then shows that by merely moving my attention away from any negative energy over to positive energy, away from fear over to love, I suddenly know that I am not a victim. There is thus a direct cause and effect on how my world is. I am responsible. A world full of fear can be changed to a world full of love through a decision. The choice is mine.
Herein lies the experience of peace!
