Innovus Technology Transfer Innovation and Commercialisation, Innovus is a division of Stellenbosch University.

Innovus is responsible for facilitating technology transfer, entrepreneurial support and development, and innovation management at Stellenbosch University. We have the full mandate to manage the protection and commercialisation of the universityโ€™s innovation and intellectual property portfolio through patenting, licensing and the formation of spin-out companies. Through our LaunchLab business incu

bator, we offer various services to and opportunities for entrepreneurs. In addition to this our equity holding in the Innovus group of companies is a valuable asset for the university. The universityโ€™s short courses and copyright division is facilitates the registration, promotion and delivery of short course education at Stellenbosch University. When we think of the global plastic problem, few of us picture microscopic fungi as the solution. But Prof. Marinda Viljoen-Bloom from Stellenbosch University has spent over 30 years proving that the smallest organisms can solve our biggest problems.

For decades, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐•๐ข๐ฅ๐ฃ๐จ๐ž๐ง-๐๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ has been quietly building the foundation of South Africaโ€™s bioeconomy. From renewable biofuels to biodegradable plastics, her work proves that nature-based solutions aren't just an aspiration, they are a scientific reality.

As we celebrate ๐€๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐š ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ today, the Innovus Technology Transfer Office at Stellenbosch University shares the exciting innovation ecosystem that is part of in the Southern tip of Africa.

The TTO hosted the ๐–๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง ๐‚๐š๐ฉ๐ž ๐“๐“๐Ž ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ last week at Die Stal, Coetzenburg, Stellenbosch University. The forum brought together technology transfer professionals, researchers and industry partners, to engage on innovation, collaboration, and commercialisation opportunities across the region.

The programme featured insightful discussions and presentations from institutions across the Western Cape including a case study and a presentation relating to re-use of human health databases
