๐ŸŽ“ Another Chapter Wrapped Up! ๐Ÿ˜…

Our Engenius kids Society has officially concluded its community outreach programmes for the year. Since earlier this year, we welcomed Grade 10 learners from around Potchefstroom to campus every Saturday for mentoring and tutoring in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

Beyond academics, we built meaningful relationships, created lasting memories, and watched our learners grow in confidence and determination. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

A heartfelt thank you to all the learners, families, Engineering students, members, and volunteers who made this journey so special. Your dedication, participation, and support truly made a difference.

We are proud of how far our learners have come and excited for what the future holds! ๐Ÿš€

From CFD simulations to the Sasol Solar Challenge โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽ๏ธ

Ompabaletse Rametse, a Mechanical Engineering student, formed part of the wheel spats team. He used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind-tunnel simulations to modify the airfoils around the wheels and reduce the solar carโ€™s aerodynamic drag.

NWU - North-West University Science Convention 2026
Inspiring the engineers of tomorrow! โœจ๐Ÿ”ง

Today, 25 August 2026, the NWU Faculty of Engineering proudly hosted top-performing Mathematics and Science learners from the Free State Province as part of the universityโ€™s annual Science Convention.

The learners are exploring our diverse engineering disciplines and engaging with NWU lecturers and students in an informal and interactive environment, gaining valuable insight into what it means to study engineering at NWU.

We are also proud to have our student community and outreach societies, Engineering Without Borders and the Engenius Kids Club, exhibiting and engaging with our aspiring young engineers. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ก
These initiatives showcase how our students go beyond their academic commitments. Through community engagement, outreach and projects that create meaningful value in society, our students are developing leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills that prepare them for the workplace while strengthening their resumes and professional experience.

At NWU Faculty of Engineering, we believe that developing future engineers is about more than academic excellenceโ€”it is about nurturing innovative, socially conscious graduates who are equipped to make a meaningful difference in the world. ๐Ÿš€

Can you solve Peg Solitaire until only ONE peg remains? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿงฉ

Eagi came so closeโ€ฆ but instead of guessing, we let an Industrial Engineer take over.

By translating the puzzle into a mathematical model, defining every possible move and setting the constraints, we can systematically find a sequence of moves that leads to the solution.

And when we follow the model? One peg remains. Puzzle solved. โœ…

๐ŸŒŸ Engenius kids OUTREACH PROGRAMME, 3 OF 3, WRAP UP FOR THE YEAR!

Today, we proudly wrapped up the 3rd and final Engenius Kids annual mentorship and Tutoring Programme of the year, hosted at the NWU Mahikeng Campus!
Our 2026 Engenius Kids journey took us across three NWU campuses, starting at the Potchefstroom Campus, followed by the Vaal Campus, and concluding today at Mahikeng Campus. Each workshop brought its own special energy, but the enthusiasm and excitement from our learners today were truly electric!

From engaging tutoring and inspiring engineering presentations to fun, hands-on activities across our engineering disciplines, our learners had the opportunity to learn, explore, create, share and discover the engineer within them. ๐Ÿ”ฌโš™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ป
It was a fitting way to bring this yearโ€™s programme to a close, and we are delighted to know that our Engenius Kids student team genuinely enjoyed the experience and embraced every opportunity to present and mentor throughout each session.

But this is not goodbye!
We look forward to staying connected with all the learners, nurturing these relationships and building a meaningful companionship with them throughout their high-school journey, all the way to matric and, hopefully, one day welcoming many of them into our NWU - North-West University family. ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽ“

To all our learners, facilitators, staff and partners who made these three programmes possible, thank you!
Hereโ€™s to nurturing young minds, inspiring future engineers and building the engineers of tomorrow!
