LAMUSU ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026 | ACCOUNTABILITY, PROGRESS & A NEW CHAPTER
Yesterday, 28th October 2026, the Lusaka Apex Medical University Students’ Union (LAMUSU) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), providing an important platform to reflect on the Union’s achievements, promote accountability, and discuss matters affecting the student community.
During the meeting, students received updates on several initiatives and milestones archived during their time in office, which was aimed at improving student welfare, representation, and campus life, including:
✅ Student Welfare: Free students’ bashes and the opening of a student-friendly restaurant offering affordable meals.
✅ Academic Support: A reduction in the registration percentage required for students to sit for tests.
✅ Inclusive Representation: Improved representation for clinical students studying away from Lusaka, ensuring their voices are heard.
✅ Research Opportunities: 15 students selected to travel to South Africa for research purposes.
✅ Sports Development: Increased sports allowances and the introduction of inter-faculty games every weekend to promote talent, teamwork, and unity.
✅ Academic Excellence: Awards recognising and celebrating outstanding students.
Beyond these achievements, the Union presented an account of how its funds had been utilised, reinforcing the importance of transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership.
A significant highlight of the AGM was the adoption of the 2026 Constitution Amendment, which was warmly received by many students. This marked an important step in shaping the Union’s governance and strengthening student representation.
As the meeting drew to a close, the atmosphere became emotional as students reflected on the service and commitment of the outgoing Union. The farewell was a moment of gratitude, appreciation, and recognition of the team that had served the student body.
Leadership is not only about the positions we hold, but also about the impact we leave behind. As one chapter closes, another begins, carrying forward the responsibility to serve, represent, and advocate for every student.
To the outgoing LAMUSU Executive, thank you for your service. To the student body, your participation remains the foundation of a stronger Union.
