PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION HOLDS TALKS WITH CHALIMBANA UNIVERSITY ON ESTABLISHMENT OF A BRANCH IN NORTH-WESTERN
North - Western Provincial Administration has held talks with a delegation from Chalimbana University on plans to establish a distance education branch in North-Western Province.
The delegation was led by the Director for Distance Education, Mr. Victor Chansa, disclosed that the University intends to bring distance education closer to learners in the Province.
Speaking during the engagement, North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, Col. Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (Rtd), commended Chalimbana University for its intention to extend services to the Province.
The Permanent Secretary noted that Government, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, recognises education as a key pillar of national development, as demonstrated by the introduction of the free education policy.
He said the proposed branch, once established, will serve as a centre for admissions for distance education, bringing quality education closer to the people and addressing the growing demand for higher education in the Province.
The PS added that the centre will also help improve service delivery, save learners time, and cut down on transport costs and logistics for people who currently travel outside the Province to access higher education services.
He pledged North - Western Provincial Administration’s commitment to work with Chalimbana University to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the branch.
Chalimbana University is a public University headquartered in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, mandated to provide teacher education and other academic programmes. through full-time, open and distance learning modes.
