The Board, Management and Staff of Northern Technical College (NORTEC) congratulates Honourable Douglas Syakalima on his appointment as Minister of Skills and Higher Education.

As an institution at the forefront of technical and vocational education and skills development NORTEC recognizes the critical role that skills development plays in driving Zambia’s economic transformation and national development.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time as the country advances President Hakainde Hichilema’s Grow Zambia Agenda, anchored on the ambitious 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 economic production targets. These targets seek to accelerate productivity, strengthen key economic sectors, create wealth and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

We look forward to working with the Ministry in advancing the skills development agenda, strengthening technical and vocational education and producing a skilled workforce capable of contributing meaningfully to the realization of Zambia’s national development aspirations.

We wish Honourable Syakalima every success as he takes on this important responsibility.

NORTEC HOSTS DELEGATION FROM DR CONGO.....

Northern Technical College (NORTEC) management led by the Principal Eng Martin Kasonso yesterday hosted a delegation from Thiermar company SARL based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) led by the company's Director General Mr Thierry Monga.

The delegation familiarised themselves with the training programs offered at NORTEC and toured various workshops to gain first-hand insight into the College's practical training facilities, equipment and skills development initiatives.

At NORTEC we recognise the importance of industry collaboration in strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET). We remain open to engaging with industry players and prospective partners to explore opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and skills development that respond to the needs of industry.

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain a deeper understanding of NORTEC's training environment and the role the College plays in equipping learners with practical, industry-relevant skills. We believe in building skills for industry and sustainable development.
