It is the aspect of communication sciences that studies how fashion is communicated in the digital or online environment, in connection with the traditional – and still highly relevant – offline media channels. A look back at our first DFC Master’s Reunion, held last Friday at USI University, in collaboration with the team!

From inspiring reflections on 8 years of the program to alumni career stories, industry insights from ASSOS of Switzerland, and an evening of networking at the Lifestyle Tech Competence Center, it was fantastic to reconnect with our community.

Yesterday our Digital Fashion Communication research team, Professor Cantoni and PhD Candidates Charlotte Stachel and Francesca Manna took place at LTCC’s Heritage event “Transforming Company Archive into Strategic Value”.

Congratulations to , who just finished her internship in Paris with , an international cultural platform dedicated to avant-garde fashion, where she worked as a Communication Assistant!

She cites DFC master classes like Digital Fashion Communication, Brand Management, Visual Fashion Communication, and Fashion Communication to benefited her internship as they “gave me a stronger understanding of how images, narratives and identity work together in fashion.”

Lifestyle Innovation Day Recap May 2026 🤖 🌟

Yesterday’s event at LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura brought together leaders and innovators across fashion, technology, AI, and digital transformation!

✨ From our own DFC team, PhD Student presented her research alongside Professor and their collaborators at : Carsten Trenz, VP of Digital EMEA, and Silvia Di Gianfrancesco, Senior UX Manager.

Their project highlighted a semester-long collaboration with students from the Digital Fashion Communication Master’s program, using eye-tracking technology to study user engagement and interaction with e-commerce webpages.

📚 In attendance at the event were also Dr. Nadzeya Sabatini, PhD students Charlotte Stachel, Mirjam-Sarah (Mia) Lepp, Presh*ta T. and alumna Verónica Espejo.

Insightful week for DFC students ✨

Last week, students from the USI Master in Digital Fashion Communication explored three different yet deeply connected realities of the fashion and design industry: discovering how innovation, craftsmanship, and communication shape today’s fashion landscape.

🛋️ At BertO Showroom, students explored the relationship between design, textiles, and perception, reflecting on how fabrics influence both physical and digital experiences.

🧵 At , they discovered the heritage and precision behind Italian textile manufacturing, while hearing from USI alumna about the evolution of a sixth-generation family business.

👜 The week concluded at the showroom in Milan, where students gained insights into brand strategy, communication, and customer experience across multiple touchpoints.

Experiencing such different realities allowed students to better understand the many perspectives, processes, and roles that shape today’s fashion industry.

❄️ Proud to share MONCLER FIT EXPERIENCE, a project developed by Beatrice Albonico, a first-year student, within the Digital Fashion Communication course as part of the Call-for-Needs by Moncler.

✨ The idea rethinks the traditional showroom by creating a hybrid physical digital space where garments worn on a real model are instantly shown on hyper realistic avatars displayed on a screen, allowing buyers to explore different body types ethnicities and genders in real time and build looks through interactive tools
The goal is to make the selection process more inclusive efficient and data driven by improving decision making and reducing waste.

The project was selected as a finalist, and while a winning idea was chosen, it brings together the strongest insights from all finalists and will continue to be developed as a team, with each contributor focusing on a specific area.

A great experience and an exciting step forward into the future of retail!

Join us this Saturday, 25 April at for the event and discover how well you really know your clothes.

As part of the PhD research by Mia Lepp, on fashion literacy and the potential of digital product passports to enhance product knowledge, supervised by Professor Lorenzo Cantoni and Dr. Nadzeya Sabatini we are hosting an interactive game and workshop to test your fashion knowledge.

🏷️ Match labels to the right clothes
🌱 Learn how to shop more sustainably
💡 Make smarter, more conscious choices

The workshop will be held at 14:00 / 15:30 / 17:00 and registration will take place at USI Campus Ovest (West) on the day of, but spots are limited!
