Before the weather broke last week we were out harvesting our first cut of silage. In total 150 acres went into the pit, and now the work of spreading fertilizer and slurry for the second cut begins!

Despite the wet weather it was shearing day here at Gurteen! A huge thank you to George Graham and his team for helping us out, and teaching the Level 5 Agri students this fantastic skill! 🐑

Yesterday our Level 5 Agri students did a practical in fertilizer application, tray testing and calibration. They also covered the basics of GPS, auto selection control and ISOBUS.

We’re incredibly excited to announce a brand-new Level 4 Certificate in Agriculture course. This is a one-year course starting at Gurteen in September– delivered in partnership with LOETB Birr. Aimed at young people who are looking to build their skills and knowledge of farming. This Level 4 course will also provide students with the qualifications to progress onto studying the Level 5 Agriculture course too- offering an alternative route of entry for those interested in studying.
