🎉 Celebrating Our Students and Tutors at City of Dublin FET College Finglas, Barry Road! 🎉

We had a fantastic day yesterday in Finglas celebrating the achievements of our amazing students and dedicated tutors at our certificate presentation! 🏆👏

Our students in Finglas, Barry Road, achieved over 500 QQI certificates across 28 modules, covering a wide range of subjects, including General Learning, Computer Skills, English Language, Social Studies, Social Justice, Psychology of Human Growth and Development, Special Needs Assisting, and Animal Welfare and Animal Behaviour.

One of the highlights of the day was hearing the powerful and inspiring testimonials from both learners and tutors, sharing their experiences of teaching and learning with us. 💚

It was particularly wonderful to hear from past learners about their journeys since completing their courses, and how they have progressed into further education and training (FET), university and employment. Their stories are a fantastic reminder of the opportunities that learning can create and the positive impact it can have on people's lives.

A huge congratulations to all our learners on their achievements, and a heartfelt thank you to our tutors for their dedication, encouragement and support. You should all be incredibly proud! 🌟

🌿 Tai Chi classes are part of the Community Education Programme in Finglas and Cabra?🌿

Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise that combines slow movements with breathing and relaxation. It can help improve balance, flexibility and overall wellbeing.

Community education plays an important role in bringing people together, creating opportunities to learn new skills, improve wellbeing and build connections within our local communities. It helps make learning accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

In Finglas and Cabra there is a range of activities being offered through community education to support health, wellbeing and lifelong learning.

Students from City of Dublin FET College Finglas, Barry Road, recently enjoyed a visit to Dogs Trust Ireland as part of their QQI Level 4 Animal Welfare course! 🐕‍🦺 🐾

We have worked with Dogs Trust for a number of years, and we really value this partnership. Our students get so much out of these visits, including a tour of the centre and an introduction to the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare – learning how we can help animals live happy, healthy lives. ❤️

Our Animal Welfare QQI Level 4 course offers a practical and interesting way to return to learning, build confidence and gain a recognised QQI qualification.

🐾 Explore opportunities in animal care.
🐾 Take the next step towards further education or employment.

Previous students have gone on to further and higher education, as well as jobs in animal care!

A huge thank you to our local TD, Marie Sherlock, for being a guest speaker at our Presentation of Certificates last night! 🎓 We really appreciate her taking time out of her busy schedule to join us.

Congratulations to all our learners in City of Dublin FET College Cabra! It was very moving to listen to learners and staff share their experiences and hear about how far our learners have progressed. 🎉

We had amazing results in our Special Needs Assisting classes, with exceptionally high retention rates!

🤟 For the first time in the Adult Education Service, we had students from the Deaf community receiving QQI Level 5 awards in Care Skills and Care of the Elderly.

The students were astounded to see their tutor, Róisín Harbourne, signing her speech! What a wonderful moment to celebrate inclusion, achievement and the power of adult education. 🙌

🌱🐝 Green skills in action at City of Dublin FET College Finglas & Cabra! 🌿🐦

Our gardening students in Cabra have been busy getting their hands dirty — planting, pruning and learning how to create spaces that support biodiversity. 🌱

One of their latest projects is a dead hedge — and it’s much more than just a pile of garden cuttings!

🍂 It provides shelter and nesting spaces for birds and wildlife.
🐝 It creates a habitat for insects and other small creatures.
🌿 It gives garden cuttings a new purpose while helping to support biodiversity.

Our students will be keeping a close eye on their dead hedge to see which insects, birds and animals come to visit! 🐞🦔🐦

Practical skills in gardening, biodiversity and environmental care are becoming increasingly valuable. At City of Dublin FET College Finglas and Cabra, our students are developing the knowledge and hands-on skills that can help create greener, healthier communities — one garden at a time. 🌍💚
