We're delighted to welcome Dr Dawn Higgins, Research Manager at the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council, as our next seminar speaker.

Dr Higgins' talk, entitled "Beyond the Test: Rethinking Neuropsychological Assessment across Culture and Literacy", will take place on Monday 2nd November at 12pm in John Hume Lecture Theatre 7 (JHL7).

Dr Dawn Higgins is a Chartered Psychologist, researcher and lecturer whose research interests include dementia, health inequalities and the experiences of marginalised communities. She completed her PhD at Maynooth University, exploring dementia within the Irish Traveller community, with a particular focus on the cultural and social factors influencing experiences of dementia.

This workshop will provide examples of using Patient & Public Involvement Participatory Research with marginalised groups such as People Who Use Drugs, young people, & people with Multiple Sclerosis. We will explore co-development methods , equitable practices for engagement, findings, & impact.

Each topic will be introduced with time for questions & answers. Speakers include Dr Nicole M. Miller, a peer from the United Kingdom advocacy group We are LUV, as well as Dr Sadhbh Byrne & Dr Rebecca Maguire.

Dr Rebecca Maguire, Associate Professor here in Psychology was invited to speak at the Multiple Sclerosis Ireland conference on Saturday. The topic was supporting mental health in people with MS.

An update was also provided on our Health Research Board (HRB) PROMISE project (Improving mental health supports for people with multiple sclerosis in Ireland) at Maynooth University, Assisting Living & Learning (ALL) Institute.

Thank you to Dr. Cian Aherne and Dr. Emma Hickey for yesterday's guest lecture introducing our final-year Mental Health students to the Power Threat Meaning Framework.

Both have led the introduction of the PTMF in youth mental health services in Ireland and internationally.
