🏀U16 & U19 Basketball⛹️‍♀️

Our u16 and u19 teams kicked off their season with an away game to the Bower Athlone on Wednesday.

Minus a few regulars, and having had limited opportunities to train with a full panel so far, both teams can be very proud of their performances.

A spirited display from the cadets was not enough to claim victory, with our failure to convert a lot of our chances being our ultimate downfall. ⛹️‍♀️

Fortunately the seniors made up for the loss with a comprehensive win executing efficiently on both ends of the floor. 🙌

Training continues on Tuesday after school with our next game in two weeks. 🏀⛹️‍♀️

Our Transition Year students are currently enjoying engaging with team building and leadership workshops with Jim Maher, focusing on the skills and qualities that will support them both now and into the future.

Through a range of practical and challenging activities, students explore how to work effectively as a team, recognise and build on their individual strengths, and communicate with confidence. 💪🗣️ The workshops also encourage critical thinking, resilience, problem-solving and leadership, helping students develop the skills needed as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of life beyond school. 🌱🎯

🏃🏼‍♀️⚽️Extra Curricular at Meán Scoil Mhuire🏉⛹️‍♀️

Following on from our recent Clubs & Teams Launch, students are encouraged to get involved in the wide range of clubs, teams and extra-curricular activities available throughout the school year.

Getting involved is a great opportunity to try something new, develop new skills and talents, make new friends and enjoy school life beyond the classroom. 🙌

From sport to music, art, languages, robotics, chess and much more, there are plenty of opportunities for every student to find something they enjoy. 🏀⚽️🏉🎨🎶

There was a fantastic atmosphere at our Clubs & Teams Launch today, as students had the opportunity to discover the wide range of clubs, teams and extra-curricular activities on offer at Meán Scoil Mhuire. ⚽️🏉🤖🐴🏃🏼‍♀️

Getting involved in school activities is a great way for students to try something new, develop their skills, make new friends and represent their school.

A big thank you to all of the students and staff who helped make the launch such a success, and to our staff who give their time to organise, coach and support our many clubs, teams and activities throughout the school year. 👏

We look forward to another fantastic year of clubs, teams and extra-curricular activities at Meán Scoil Mhuire! 🙌

🏀 International Basketball Representative ⛹️‍♀️

A massive well done to our TY student Klaudia who, over the summer, represented Latvia in the ‘A’ division of the U16 EuroBasket Tournament in Romania. 🇱🇻🇪🇺

The team finished 4th overall, losing to Spain in the semi-finals. This is an incredible achievement, competing against the best basketball players from across Europe. 👏

We are very proud here in MSM to see how well Klaudia is doing and wish her continued success this year. 👏

🌊 Lough Allen Adventure Park 🛶

Our Transition Year students had a fantastic day out at Lough Allen, taking part in a great range of activities. The girls learned how to safely start a campfire before trying their hand at rock climbing, kayaking and paddleboarding. 🔥🧗‍♀️🏄‍♀️

They finished the day with plenty of fun on the water inflatables! It was a busy day and a great opportunity for the girls to get to know each other better while trying out activities they may not have done before. A great day was had by all! 🙌

Thanks to Ms. Devaney, TY Coordinator, for organising such an enjoyable trip.
