Can universities change the world if they lose their own freedom?

Today, global academic leaders are addressing this question at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) during the Magna Charta Universitatum Anniversary Conference, “Beyond Resilience: Universities as Active Value-Driven Agents in a Changing World.”

Political pressure, national security, artificial intelligence, threats to democracy – universities can no longer remain on the sidelines of these challenges.

The key message emerging from Vilnius: university freedom is not a privilege. It is a prerequisite for independent research, public trust and responsible decision-making.
