As part of our Faculty’s collaboration with secondary schools, workshops and lectures aimed at students of general high schools were held on October 21, 2026, led by faculty members from WNS units. Their goal was to broaden young people’s knowledge of the most important historical, social, political, and economic issues of the modern world, as well as to develop their critical thinking skills, ability to analyze information, and capacity for informed participation in social life.

🌍 ASIS Students Connecting with Wrocław's Local Community!
Students of Applied Social and Intercultural Studies (ASIS) at the Institute of Sociology, University of Wrocław, recently participated in a networking meeting with representatives of the Department of Social Diversity of the Wrocław City Office, Przejście Dialogu, and WroMigrant.

🤝 The meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about the activities of these institutions and initiatives, exchange ideas, establish contacts, and explore possibilities for future cooperation.
This initiative highlights the practical dimension of the ASIS programme and our commitment to building strong connections between academic education and the wider social and institutional environment.

📢 Join us for the workshop "Reading Stories: Narratives, Power and Representation"!

How do narratives shape our understanding of the world? Whose voices are heard, and whose perspectives remain invisible?

We invite everyone interested in exploring these questions to join a three-part interactive workshop combining critical discourse analysis, a study visit to a museum or exhibition in Wrocław, and creative group work.

📅 Workshop schedule:
🔹 4 November 2026 | 1:00–3:30 PM – Introduction to discourse analysis, power, and representation.
🔹 Study visit – A joint visit to a selected museum or exhibition in Wrocław to explore how narratives are constructed and presented. The visit will take place before the final workshop meeting. Date and location to be announced.
🔹 25 November 2026 | 12:00–3:00 PM – Analytical and creative workshop based on the materials collected during the study visit.

📍 Location: Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wrocław, Faculty Library building, Room 2 (ground floor, on the left).

👩‍🏫 Facilitator: Dr Anna Cichecka, Institute of Sociology, University of Wrocław.

We now have the results of the elections for the governing bodies of the University of Wrocław student self-government at our Faculty for the 2026–2028 term. We congratulate those elected and wish them success in their efforts on behalf of the students!

🌍 On 19–20 October 2026, the international conference Human Rights Monitoring Reloaded: Inclusiveness, Effectiveness, and Transformative Potential for the International Machinery took place in Padua, organised by the University of Padua’s Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca”.

🤝 The Institute of International Studies and Security was among the international partners of the event.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wrocław was represented by Dean Prof. Magdalena Ratajczak, Vice-Dean Prof. Marta Ryniejska-Kiełdanowicz, and Dr. Anna Cichecka.

The conference focused on contemporary challenges, effectiveness, and potential reforms of the international human rights protection system.
