Ms Boyd’s students at Oak Mountain Middle School had a fun, hands-on day focused on communication, teamwork, and leadership! Students participated in Fishbowl and Taboo challenges, where communication was limited and creative thinking was key.
The bellringer challenge had students work together to line themselves up in birth order, giving them another opportunity to problem-solve and communicate.
It was great to see natural leaders emerge, students work together, and teams find creative ways to communicate! What a fun day of learning! 👏✨

Mrs. Ingram’s classes at Oak Mountain High School put their communication skills to the test with a fun, hands-on activity! Students first created a picture and then wrote detailed instructions for someone else to recreate it.

The challenge? Mrs. Ingram read each set of instructions aloud while drawing on the board—without seeing the original picture!

This activity showed students just how important clear communication, specific directions, active listening, and attention to detail are in a collaborative workplace.

Sometimes, saying exactly what you mean makes all the difference! 👏✨ 💼🤝

Did you know that one of the top skills employers look for is communication? This skill is how you effectively talk with others, both verbally and written and also through your body language.

Nat Turner said “Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity”.

Be mindful of your words and actions because they have great power.

📣 Workforce Wednesday word of the day📣

ACCOUNTABILITY is taking ownership and being responsible for your decisions and actions.

Moliere says “It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are accountable”.

When you make a mistake, own it, learn from it and do better next time.

One word. One goal. A whole year of possibilities!

Mrs. Lee’s FACS students at Calera Middle School spent the week thinking about their goals and choosing ONE word to represent what they want to focus on this year. After decorating notecards and reflecting on why they chose their word, students brought their goals to life by creating bracelets they can wear as a daily reminder! 📿✨

A little creativity, a lot of reflection, and a meaningful goal to carry with them all year long! 💙 🦅
