🎓 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Daniel Brady 🎓

Why MCSON? Daniel admits MCSON wasn’t originally on his radar, but his mom encouraged him to attend Preview Day with an open mind and give it a chance. “I randomly open my Bible and take the first verse I see as God's way of speaking to me. The morning of Preview Day, I read a verse and later that day, as I sat listening to the speaker, I realized he was quoting the exact same verse. Hearing the words I had read that very morning felt like one of those full-circle moments where everything suddenly clicked. In that moment, I knew God was leading me to MC. I’ve learned how important it is to seek out and recognize the signs that God sends you. We all have such individualized relationships with him, so he communicates to us differently, like a secret language. I urge you to find that language and find a personal relationship with him. Don't just choose MC because you're Christian, choose MC because you want to become a better and more Christ-centered version of yourself.”

Future Plans After graduation: Daniel plans a career in maternal and pediatric care. When asked why, he said, " Being an uncle is one of the most important parts of who I am. I absolutely love my two nieces, my nephew, and my late nephew. I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I am also passionate about helping women, as I owe my every redeeming quality and success to them. They inspire me to cultivate empathy, peace, and selflessness in every aspect of my life. I am super close to my mom and even though she isn’t a nurse, the love that she passed onto me is something I share with patients.”

Advice to Future Nurses: One of Daniel’s favorite quotes says: “Walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” He says, “In life, you’re going to come across people who don’t see your worth or doubt your capabilities, so remember all of the people who believe in you. You owe it to them, and yourself, to never give up and to fiercely pursue your dreams.”

🎓 Senior Spotlight: Madison Loper 🎓

Why MCSON?
"I chose MCSON because of its Christ-centered environment and the strong sense of community I experienced from the beginning. I have been at Mississippi College since my freshman year, and I truly could not have imagined a better nursing program. MCSON has allowed me to grow academically, personally, and spiritually while preparing me for the profession God has called me to."

Favorite Part of MCSON:
"What I have loved most about MCSON is the faculty, staff, and the Christian approach to nursing that I have learned throughout my education. The faculty and staff are incredibly loving and caring, and they genuinely want their students to succeed. Whenever I needed encouragement, advice, a listening ear, or even a prayer, there was always someone willing to be there for me. That support has made MCSON feel like more than just a school—it has felt like a family."

Future Plans:
"After graduation, I plan to begin my nursing career in the Neuro ICU at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. I am excited to build my knowledge and skills while caring for critically ill patients. After gaining several years of ICU experience, I plan to pursue CRNA school and continue advancing my nursing education and career."

Advice for Future Nurses:
"Never lose your passion, your compassion, or your faith in the Lord. Nursing is challenging, but God has called you here for a reason. There will be difficult days, but trust in His plan, lean on your faith, and remember why you started. Allow God to use you to care for others and make a difference in their lives."

Most Rewarding Experience:
"Growing stronger in my faith while gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to become a nurse. MCSON has challenged me academically while also teaching me what it means to care for others through a Christ-centered approach. I feel that MCSON has prepared me not only to become an excellent nurse, but to serve my patients with compassion, faith, and Christ at the center of my practice."

We celebrated Healthcare Simulation Week on Friday morning with cake. It is the breakfast of champions 😀. We appreciate our simulation faculty (Wendi Lofton McLendon) and staff (Rebecca Harper)! They create real-life scenarios for our students that really put them to the test. Thank you for all you do!

"The staff here at MC School of Nursing have poured into me and helped develop me into a confident and well-rounded future nurse. I am so thankful for this program and who I will become because of it."

Most Rewarding Experience:
"Accepting a job at Methodist was an amazing and rewarding experience. All the countless hours of studying and time spent in the hospital made it all worth it!"

Future Plans:
"After graduation, I will be working at Methodist Rehabilitation Center in spinal rehabilitation. Helping people find their way who have had life-changing injuries gives my heart so much joy."

Advice for Future Nurses:
"If you have the love of Christ and want to help others, you can accomplish anything that is His will for your life. With a lot of faith and a lot of hard work, I have done just that."
