A lifelong passion for soccer gave Finn Norsen ’28 the opportunity to combine his love of the game with his growing interest in photography. This summer, Finn served as the photographer and multimedia creator for the Western Mass Pioneers, documenting everything from pregame preparations to match-winning celebrations, while gaining firsthand experience in the fast-paced world of sports media.

"I’ve played soccer, followed soccer, and watched soccer all my life, so any opportunity to incorporate that passion into some professional experience would be an attractive one."

What do you learn when the people beside you are classmates, alumni, professors, and professional artists?

This summer, five Hamilton students and three recent graduates joined Assistant Professor of Theater Emily K. Harrison and a team of professional artists to stage Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

Researching, rehearsing, and experimenting together gave students a firsthand look at how professional theater gets made — and, as Roman Padera ’28 put it, taught them “a ridiculous amount about performing.”

Congratulations! Professor of French and Francophone Studies Martine Guyot-Bender will spend this fall in Cambodia studying the country’s emerging art-house cinema and teaching screenwriting at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, after having been selected for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

Her research will explore how a new generation of Cambodian filmmakers represents a society still navigating the legacy of the Khmer Rouge while moving toward modernization.
