Congratulations to Charlyse Roy, PharmD Candidate, on receiving the Alan Granat Memorial Award at the Illinois Pharmacists Association (IPhA) Annual State Conference!

Established in memory of former IPhA Executive Director Alan Granat, this award is presented annually to a pharmacist or student pharmacist who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to the pharmacy profession and their community through active involvement in professional organizations and community service.

P3 student, Grace Hunt, earned a second place finish in the State Counseling competition held at IPhA Annual Conference in Peoria, IL!

“It was a privilege to represent SIUE during the patient counseling competition. This opportunity was a great way for me to translate the skills I developed in the classroom into a real-world scenario. The competition required me to combine clinical knowledge and motivational interviewing to facilitate a productive conversation with the patient.”

Pharmacy students, Courtney Swink, Caroline Lueke, Christopher Johnson, and Brooke Gage, took 1st place in the IPhA Annual Conference Business Plan Competition! 🥇

Over the past several months, they've worked together to develop and present a pharmacist-led PrEP service designed to expand access to HIV prevention and demonstrate the impact community pharmacists can have beyond traditional dispensing.

This weekend at the IPhA Annual Conference in Peoria, P2 student Kevin Peoples was inducted to serve on the Board of Directors!

Kevin is looking forward to seeing how pharmacists and pharmacy students come together to advocate for the profession and address challenges the profession face. He shared, “I hope this experience will allow me to gain a better understanding of the different perspectives within pharmacy."

P4 Student, Kizito Nwauwa, was recently selected to serve on the 2026-27 Student National Pharmaceutical Association National Executive Board as the National Power to End Stroke Initiative Chair!

The purpose of this initiative is to empower pharmacy students through patient and survivor advocacy, implement educational events, and promote social change to establish health equities in communities with higher risks of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. Congratulations, Kizito!
