Future healthcare leaders got a hands-on look at the profession this October! 🩺💉

Students from Hazelwood Central, Belleville West, and Freeburg High Schools visited SIUE’s Health Sciences Complex, where the SIUE School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing teamed up to provide interactive experiences in administering vaccinations and conducting health assessments.

Pharmacy students from SNPhA, AAPP, and the LatinRx Affinity Group were proud to serve at the 3rd annual Tu Salud Health Fair hosted by Telemundo St. Louis!

Students provided depression screenings and mental health education for Hispanic and Spanish-speaking community members, helping increase awareness of mental health resources and access to care. This experience not only created meaningful community impact by connecting attendees with health and wellness services, but also strengthened students’ cultural competency and communication skills through direct engagement with diverse patient populations.

As head of strategic solutions for Sanofi North America, she leads innovative work in healthcare, policy, business development, and artificial intelligence while continuing to advance the pharmacy profession. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Calling All Pharmacists! 📣

Have you considered offering pharmacist-led HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) prescribing services? We want to hear your perspective!

An SIUE Pharmacy student is conducting a survey to learn more about pharmacists’ perceptions, readiness, and potential barriers to implementing pharmacist-led HIV PrEP and PEP prescribing services in Metro East Illinois. The student's project is titled Expanding HIV Prevention Through Pharmacy Practice: Pharmacists’ Perspectives on PrEP and PEP Prescribing in Metro East Illinois.

All licensed pharmacists are encouraged to participate by completing a brief survey that will take approximately 10 minutes. Participation is voluntary, and your responses will be anonymous.

💉 Our pharmacy students are making a difference this flu season!

P4 students, Landon Pereda and Shreevallabh Damle, provided influenza vaccinations to members of our campus community, helping protect students, faculty, and staff from seasonal flu. Through hands-on immunization experiences, our students build valuable patient care skills while promoting public health and disease prevention.

A huge THANK YOU to Aneesh Asokan (SOP Class of 2022 alumni) and Sajel Lewis for joining us through the Charles Dragovich Speaker Series!

Students had the opportunity to learn about the unique career paths that led Aneesh and Sajel to leadership roles in pharmacy organizations, including the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). Their insights highlighted the many opportunities available beyond traditional pharmacy practice and encouraged students to explore how their own passions and experiences can shape their future careers.

Love seeing our students doing amazing work!

“I love pharmacy because it gives me the opportunity to help people every day while always learning something new.”

Every prescription tells a story. It might be someone managing a chronic condition, recovering from an illness or picking up medication for a loved one. Before that prescription ever reaches their hands, there's often a pharmacy technician helping make sure everything is ready.

Pharmacy technicians answer questions, solve problems, support pharmacists and guide patients through moments that can feel confusing or overwhelming. Their work keeps care moving forward, one detail at a time.

Lauren is one of those caregivers. A pharmacy technician at Mercy Pharmacy in Edwardsville, Illinois and a student pharmacist at SIUE School of Pharmacy, she's building a career centered on helping others while continuing to learn and grow every day.

The work pharmacy technicians do doesn't always happen in the spotlight, but it makes a difference in countless ways. It's found in the extra question answered, the prescription prepared with care and the small moments that help patients feel supported.

Today, we're celebrating Lauren and every pharmacy technician across Mercy. Thank you for the compassion, dedication and attention to detail you bring to your work each day.

🌟🎥 SIUE School of Pharmacy Faculty Spotlight Series: Dr. Jenny Rosselli

Dr. Jenny Rosselli is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at SIUE School of Pharmacy, serving as a faculty member since 2009. Currently, she practices as an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at SIHF Healthcare in O’Fallon and Belleville, Illinois, providing chronic disease management services with a focus on diabetes care. At SIUE, she teaches chronic kidney disease, obesity, lipids, chronic coronary disease, peripheral artery disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis through integrated pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacy skills, physical assessment, clinical reasoning, and an ambulatory care elective. She serves as a preceptor for advanced pharmacy practice experiences and postgraduate pharmacy and medical residents. Additionally, she actively participates in outreach to broaden pharmacist-led care in various local and international settings through health fairs, patient education events, and global mission trips.
