Nearly 50 current and former colleagues, family members and friends gathered at a reception Wednesday to congratulate Pamlico Community College’s Cristy Lewis Warner on her retirement. Warner, who most recently served as the college’s counselor and director of the Career Center, was moved to tears as she thanked her colleagues for their teamwork, love and support over her 19 years at PCC. In all, Warner worked for 30 years with the state of North Carolina. Both PCC President Zac Schnell and Vice President of Student Services Jamie D. Gibbs, who was her direct supervisor, praised Warner for her dedication to serving students and for her willingness to take on challenging issues and projects. At the reception, which featured cake and other refreshments, she was presented with a custom-made firepit and other gifts. Warner also was surprised by Karen Gardner of From the Heart Florist with a special delivery of flowers and a dessert from Sweet Annie’s Coffee & Bakery. As Warner would say, "Go Team!"
