As we recognize Pride Month, we reflect on the history that began with the Stonewall Uprising in 1969 and the countless individuals who have continued to advocate for equality, visibility, and acceptance. Their voices, stories, and courage have helped create lasting change and continue to inspire future generations! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

While often misrepresented as Mexican Independence Day (which is actually celebrated on September 16), Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla and is widely celebrated as a moment of cultural pride and awareness.

The Resilient Wujimu Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. proudly recognizes May as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. 🏹

May was chosen to honor the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S. in 1843 and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869, built largely by Chinese laborers whose contributions were long overlooked.

To our sister of the AAPI community…thank you for everything you bring into our sisterhood! 🩵
