The Furman University Jazz Studies program, led by Matt Olson, consists of the Furman Jazz Ensemble

The Furman Jazz Studies program offers ensembles (Furman Jazz Ensemble, several small jazz combos), classes (jazz improvisation, jazz history, independent study), and private instruction (jazz improvisation, jazz guitar, jazz piano, jazz bass, and jazz drums) to all Furman students, regardless of major. We present several concerts each year, and have regular guest artists appear on campus.

We've had a busy few days! The Sofia Goodman Trio stopped by for a fun clinic, we presented our fall concert Friday night, and some of our students and recent alums played a nice set of music at the South Carolina Jazz Festival in Cheraw, SC, yesterday.

One of our combos played an awesome set in conjuction with the Jazz Collective at the Greenville County Museum of Art yesterday. It was a program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Coltrane. Thanks to the awesome audience who came out to hear them!
