Welcome, Dr. Hicks to Purdue Northwest School of Education and Counseling!
โ€‹
We are excited to have a new tenure track faculty join our amazing counseling program this fall! Dr. Hicks received his Ph.D. At the Ohio State University and researches the mental health and sociopolitical needs of underrepresented minorities living with chronic illnesses. His research
also emphasizes socially just counselor education and supervision, school-based counseling, and culturally responsive education.โ€‹

As a licensed clinical professional counselor, who has practiced and or taught in Ohio, DC, Maryland, Oklahoma and Hawaii, Dr. Hicks' knowledge of the counseling field will be a significant contribution to the school counseling education program that is preparing students to meet a growing need for counselors and mental health practitioners in schools,
both local and beyond.

Over 200 educators came together last Friday for the South Shore Summer of Learning Conference hosted at PNW on a powerful day dedicated to connecting, growing, and improving practice across our region. From engaging keynote sessions on AI to a wide range of over 24 breakout sessions on leadership, instruction, wellness, and classroom strategies, the energy and collaboration were inspirational. This full-day free conference highlighted what makes our educational community and partnership with K-12 schools so strong!
