RVU-Utah recently came together for a Celebration of Cultures, bringing students, faculty, and staff around the table to share food, traditions, and conversation. 🌎

Members of our campus community brought dishes representing their own cultures and backgrounds, giving everyone an opportunity to experience new foods while learning more about the people they see and work alongside each day.

With plenty of great food and even better company, the event was a meaningful opportunity to build connections and celebrate the different experiences and traditions that make our RVU community unique.

The Pathways to Surgery Conference gave RVUCOM-Utah students the opportunity to learn, connect, and build hands-on skills throughout the weekend.

Hosted by the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS), the conference included activities developed in collaboration with the Simulation in Medicine and Surgery (SIMS) Club and ROAD-Anesthesia Club, with support from Dr. Melendez, Dr. Fant, and SIMS Fellow Josh Tronier.

The weekend also included community-focused activities, including card making, organized in collaboration with the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians (ACOP) and the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA).

Thank you to the students, faculty, and organizations who helped bring the conference together and create a meaningful weekend of learning and connection.

Celebrating Utah Pride Month through community engagement and service.

Throughout Utah Pride Month, students from RVU's Medical Student Pride Alliance (MSPA) and Medical Student Advocates for Underserved Populations (MSAUP) participated in a variety of events across Southern Utah.

Students volunteered at Encircle's Rainbow Brunch and Rainbow Carnival, provided blood pressure screenings and health education at Pride in the Park, and concluded the month with a collaborative Chai and Chat event focused on identity, culture, intersectionality, and allyship.

These experiences provided opportunities to connect with community members, support local organizations, promote health and wellness, and celebrate the visibility and community of LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies.

Thank you to all who participated and helped make Utah Pride Month meaningful and impactful.

A powerful reminder of what community can accomplish.

After facing challenges finding resources following their son's autism diagnosis, the Bein family created Walk with Autism, an annual event hosted at Rocky Vista University that brings families and autistic children together in a supportive and welcoming environment. The organization has since expanded its impact through additional programs and resources that serve families throughout Southern Utah.

We're honored to host Walk with Autism on our campus and support efforts that strengthen connections, build community, and help families feel seen and supported.

Take your medical education beyond the classroom! 🌎

RVUCOM-Utah students have the opportunity to participate in the 2027 Spring Break Global Medical Outreach trip to the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Peru, March 6–13.

This experience offers students the opportunity to apply their clinical skills, connect with peers across RVU campuses, and gain a deeper understanding of healthcare in different cultural settings.

The trip includes four clinic days, one orientation day, and one cultural adventure day.

Trip dates: March 6–13, 2027

Application period: September 23–30, 2026

Remembering 9/11 and honoring those who served.

Students in Rocky Vista University's Military Medicine Program and Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) recently came together for a flag ceremony in observance of September 11, honoring those who lost their lives in the attacks and the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the years that followed.

Representing multiple branches of military service, these future healthcare professionals paused to reflect on a day that forever shaped our nation and to recognize the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who answered the call to serve.

The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder of the enduring legacy of service, resilience, and commitment that continues to inspire military and healthcare communities alike.

RVUCOM-Utah’s Surgical Club recently brought students together for a hands-on suture clinic focused on building foundational skills and learning from one another.

Students started by practicing square knots with rope before applying those techniques with suture kits. Throughout the clinic, they were able to learn from peers, ask questions, and gain practical experience in a supportive environment.

Opportunities like this help students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and connect with classmates outside of the classroom.
