Jared Bagley recently contributed to a paper with Harpur's J. David Jentsch, exploring how teenage alcohol use and its consequences affect males and females differently. Little is known about why these s*x differences occur; the study, which was conducted in adolescent mice, shows that a confluence of hormonal and genetic factors contributes to s*x differences in excessive alcohol use. These studies provide new insights into the biological origins of s*x differences in teenage drinking!

🏥 Binghamton University TRUST students recently completed a Rural Health Immersion Program at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York! While shadowing healthcare professionals in community organizations and exploring local healthcare challenges, students gained firsthand insight into rural medicine and the barriers many communities face in accessing care.

New GLP-1 medications have transformed diabetes and obesity care, but concerns about links to suicidal thoughts have sparked debate. Binghamton researchers Mia Lussier, Emily Leppien, and Leon Cosler contributed to a systematic review of observational studies, which found no clear evidence that GLP-1 receptor agonists are associated with suicidality.
