Hip Hip Hooray! ValleyHUB Food Hub is celebrating Julie Guthrie, too!

Julie is a local food in schools champion and partners with us to get more local food on more local plates. Her dedication to connect all ages to farms in their area is powerful. Yay Julie!

Tonight at 7 pm at City Hall we will be awarding the Cyndi Trobeck Community Service Award to Julie Guthrie. Julie not only fights food insecurity in our community every day at Otsego Public Schools, but she also coordinates and organizes many events for Otsego families outside of the schools. She definitely understands the term "service" and has a heart for those who are often forgotten or ignored in our society. She has also donated her time teaching others how to prepare and cook their own food at Christian Neighbors with their new demonstration kitchen. Feel free to come down tonight and help us celebrate Julie and all that she does for the Otsego community.

Look at that giant stack of totes!

Sure, to some that just looks like a couple of pallets of plastic bins - no big deal right?! WRONG!

What these totes represent is that we have TRIPLED the food moving throughout Southwest Michigan from our incredible farms and food makers to a remarkable group of school, early care and education, hospital, adult care facility, café, restaurant, and food distribution partners.

Picture in your mind the thousands and thousands of pounds of food that these totes will allow us to move!

Food Innovation. Locally Delivered.

ValleyHUB is a farm, food hub, and education center. We're based at 224 E Crosstown Parkway, at the Food Innovation Center at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. At our farm, we test new and innovative methods for year-round growing. In our food hub, we distribute fresh food from local farms to local customers. And our training center offers programs in food safety, produce handling, and production methods to help growers and food handlers innovate and succeed. Our goal is to get more healthy fresh foods onto more plates in Southwest Michigan.
