Celebrating its 20th year, the Saint Francis University Community Blanketeers project has collected an incredible 3,816 blankets over the years, providing warmth and comfort to sick and needy children in the local area. The blankets are distributed through local hospitals, the Healing Patch and Nurse Family Partnership (Home Nursing Agency), and local fire companies. As we celebrate 20 years of this meaningful tradition, we are grateful to everyone who has helped make the Blanketeer program a lasting source of comfort, care, and community support for local children.

Another way the SFU Community Blanketeers help provide comfort to local children. Thank you to all our blanketeers… we couldn’t do it without you.

Healing Patch in-school grief support groups, known as Patch Clubs, are forming in local school districts!

Patch Clubs allow us to reach more grieving children right where they are, providing a safe and supportive space to connect, share, and remember their significant person.

Students at Greater Johnstown Elementary School enjoyed receiving their comfort bags today and decorating memorial picture frames in honor of someone special to them.

We are grateful to Mid-Penn Region Charities , Saint Francis University Blanketeers, and the United Way of the Southern Alleghenies for helping make this initiative possible. Thank you for supporting grieving children in our community! 💙

The Criminal Justice Club in collaboration with the SFU Police Department, and Residence Life, held the annual First Responders Day event on Friday, October 23. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and had the largest community crowd to date. The day brought a wonderful opportunity for students, staff, faculty, and the community to meet with first responders and to see the gear used by fire, police, and EMS. We had plenty of familiar faces, and a few new ones such as the State Police Mounted Tactical Team and again the very popular PSP helicopter land on the mall. Students also had the opportunity to crawl through the "smokehouse" and try the ambulance driving simulator. Most importantly, this day provides an opportunity to say "THANKS" to our volunteers and paid professionals who keep us safe throughout the year.

Oh, you know… just an AMAZING group of juniors wrapping up their Med-Surg clinicals at UPMC Altoona🩺

This group earned MULTIPLE WOW Awards for consistently going above and beyond for their patients, the staff, and their units. And the recognition doesn’t stop there…

A unit director recognized our students during morning huddle, sharing that they “all pitch in without having to be asked” and that they are “the best group of students we have had on the unit”🔥

THIS is what it looks like to be an SFU nursing student!❤️🖤 Showing up, stepping up, supporting the team, and making a difference in patient care—even when no one is asking them to.

We are SO proud of these future nurses and the compassion, initiative, and professionalism they bring to the bedside every day!

Congratulations, juniors! You’re making the Red Wolf nursing family proud! 🎉
