Check out the problem-solving and engineering skills of our group!
Dr. Misiura guided students through the beginning stages of adapting toys for increased accessibility. The SWITCHED program is a grant-funded program that allows our students to learn how to adapt toys for children who may need an alternative way to play.

This week in Intervention Lab, students learned about and performed home and community mobility assessments.
There is a small cottage on campus that served as the “home,” making assessment convenient and realistic for this assignment.
Students were required to evaluate access to the home, entryways, doorway accessibility, kitchen safety, bathroom measurements, and overall accessibility of the home. These are real-life skills needed to succeed in OT!

Neurowellness Lab is underway!
Students have completed evaluations and began implementing interventions this week.
The Neurowellness Lab pairs OT and PT students with community-based clients who could benefit from skilled therapy services.
Dr. Rowels and Ms. Shelley Mazzetti (adjunct instructor) guide our OT students through this 6-week lab. Students gain clinical experience and are challenged to utilize clinical judgment and decision-making to ensure clients gain increases in occupational performance and role competence.

We’ve had a very busy week full of learning, including lots of hands-on learning!
Dr. Rowles took our students to implement ergonomic assessments with Aviation Maintenance Technician students at the Nulton Aviation Training Center in Johnstown, PA.
This community-based lab was part of Dr. Rowles’ Innovative Approaches in OT course.

Dr. Nagle came to talk to our Education Students in Dr. Boutiller’s Autism Spectrum Disorders class on Friday. Dr. Nagle shared her expertise on the importance of crossing the midline. We all learned so much from her about development through reflexes! 🙌👧👦💫
