The Global Studies program at Bethel University offers both long and short term study abroad opportunities for all members of our learning community. Students, staff, faculty, alumni, family, and friends of Bethel are eligible to participate in the program. High school students can even earn college credit for their participation.

The Eiffel Tower is just the beginning. This spring, Bethel University is launching its first-ever France Maymester, where your classroom stretches from the halls of the Louvre to the cliffs of Normandy.

Missed the Colombia meeting? Here’s the whole Spring Break plan. 🇨🇴

Bethel Global Studies is heading to Cali, Colombia, March 7 to 13, 2027, for a 7-day program built around service, culture, learning, and a whole lot of exploring.

Here’s the itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive, settle in, and enjoy a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Volunteer at Colegio Americano, then visit Cristo Rey and Parque del Gato.
Day 3: Serve during the day, then learn to salsa with world-famous Swing Latino.
Day 4: Participate in chapel programming and volunteer with students at Colegio Americano.
Day 5: Volunteer, then experience the natural beauty of Pance National Park.
Day 6: Serve, explore downtown Cali, and end the night with a lively Chiva tour.
Day 7: Browse Alameda Market before heading home.

Program cost: $2,350
Includes flights, lodging, in-country transportation, meals, tips, language translator, guides, tours, and more. Application + $200 deposit due September 15, 2026.

Meet Allie: Sociology + Psychology student, Global Studies work-study, and professionally ready to get on a plane. ✈️😂

Allie Slater is from Medina, Tennessee, and if you handed her a plane ticket today, she’s headed to Ireland or straight back to Guatemala.

Travel has taught her that “people around the world are much more similar to us here in America than we think,” and now she wants more people to get out there and discover that for themselves. 🌎

Basically, she gets it. 💜

Our friends in Cali need a little love from Tennessee right now. 💜🇨🇴

Colegio Americano isn’t just a school on one of our itineraries. It’s a community Bethel Global Studies has spent time with, learned from, served alongside, and grown to care deeply about.

After a recent earthquake caused significant damage throughout their community, some Colegio Americano families are facing an especially difficult start to the school year. Our friends there told us one meaningful way we can help is by supporting scholarships for families struggling to keep their children enrolled.

So on September 14, we’re showing up the Bethel Global Studies way: together, with a little salsa involved. 💃

And these aren’t just any salsa lessons. Our friends at Swing Latino in Colombia will be teaching us LIVE via Zoom! 🇨🇴

Operation: Get Ms. Bobbie to Italy is officially underway. 🇮🇹🍦

Ms. Bobbie is an Educational Assistant at Gleason School PreK-12 and has never traveled that far from home. As she put it, “If it happens, it’d be like a dream.” 🥹 She’s fundraising for her trip at her son’s shop, Italian Ice & Froyo Co., which means supporting Ms. Bobbie currently involves eating froyo... Tough assignment, but somebody’s gotta do it. 🍦

Step one: go support Ms. Bobbie Lipscomb (and get the froyo, obviously).
