June 19 marks Juneteenth, a day of reflection, education, and celebration of Black history and culture.

As Carteret observes this important day, we honor the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans whose stories continue to shape our communities and our nation.

Today, we also celebrate through our annual Taste of the South event, presented by the Black History Committee and Culinary Arts Program. This special evening brings together Southern flavors, culture, music, and community while supporting student success through the Gwen Fisher Memorial Scholarship.

Together, we reflect on our history, celebrate our culture, and invest in the future.

The Carteret County America 250 Committee invites the public to attend the countywide America 250 Celebration at the Crystal Coast Civic Center.

Yesterday, Culinary Arts student Chef Teesha Dorsette and Chef Michael Mauro joined WCTI News 12 to share a preview of this year's event and the passion behind the food you'll experience tomorrow. We couldn't be more proud to see our students representing Carteret CC and helping showcase this special celebration of Southern culture, cuisine, and community.

Tomorrow, six talented chefs will bring their creativity and culinary expertise to the table with a menu designed especially for Taste of the South. From incredible flavors to great music and fellowship, it's shaping up to be an unforgettable evening.

🩺🎓 Celebrating Carteret's Surgical Technology Graduates!

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of students from Carteret Community College's Surgical Technology Program.

Through hundreds of hours of hands-on training, clinical experiences, and dedicated study, these graduates have developed the skills and confidence needed to become essential members of the surgical team. Their journey reflects the commitment, perseverance, and professionalism required to provide safe, high-quality patient care.

One of the most inspiring moments of the ceremony was hearing graduates share how they overcame challenges, gained confidence through real-world experiences, and achieved goals they once thought were out of reach.

We are incredibly proud of these graduates and grateful to our faculty and healthcare partners who help make this program possible. Congratulations to our Surgical Technology graduates—we can't wait to see the impact you will make in healthcare and in the lives of the patients you serve.

🚧 Progress is taking shape! 🚧

The future home of Carteret Community College's Workforce Center for Construction Trades & Transportation Technologies is coming along beautifully. Every beam, foundation, and concrete pour brings us one step closer to creating a space where students will gain hands-on experience, learn valuable skills, and prepare for rewarding careers in the trades and transportation industries.

What an incredible week at Health Heroes Camp! 🩺 ❤️

Our future health professionals spent the week exploring the many ways people care for the health and well-being of our communities. Campers participated in hands-on activities, toured health care facilities, met local professionals, and discovered the educational pathways that can lead to rewarding careers in health care.

Throughout the week, students learned about nursing, emergency medical services, radiography, surgical technology, pharmacy, medical office administration, and other health science fields. They practiced important skills related to CPR, first aid, patient care, and health promotion while gaining a deeper understanding of the teamwork, compassion, and expertise that health care professionals bring to their work every day.

Most importantly, campers left with a greater appreciation for the people who keep our communities healthy and a better understanding of the many opportunities available right here in Carteret County to pursue careers in health care.

A special thank you to our community partners, instructors, and health care professionals who shared their time, knowledge, and passion with our campers. We are also grateful for the support of the Ribbon of Hope Grant, awarded by the North Carolina GSK Foundation, which made this experience possible.

This is just the beginning! We look forward to expanding Health Heroes programming and providing even more opportunities for students to explore health careers, build valuable life skills, and become the next generation of community health leaders.

🎉 Yesterday was a special day as we celebrated the birthday of our President, Dr. Tracy Mancini! While her birthday was yesterday, we were delighted to honor her today during the Carteret Community College Board of Trustees meeting. Thank you, Dr. Mancini, for your vision, dedication, and outstanding leadership. Your commitment to our students, faculty, staff, and community continues to inspire us all. Happy Birthday! 🎂🎈

We also took time to recognize and thank two exceptional members of our Board of Trustees, Mrs. Penny Hooper and Mr. Doug Brady, for their years of service and unwavering commitment to Carteret Community College. Their leadership and support have helped shape the college's success, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.

The meeting concluded with an inspiring presentation from two of our SkillsUSA students, who shared their experiences competing at the national level. Their stories highlighted the impact of career and technical education, leadership development, and the incredible opportunities available to our students. We are so proud of their accomplishments and grateful they took the time to share their journey with us.

The current bookstore will permanently close on June 11 as we begin renovations for the all-new Kraken Campus Store! 🐙

💻 Laptops, tech accessories & more
🎁 Gifts, snacks & school supplies
🛍️ A modern, student-focused shopping experience

Students will be able to order textbooks and course materials again beginning July 27, both in-store and online.
