The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences offers opportunities to develop both broad knowledge and highly specific skills, with a focus on engaged learning in our labs, museums, classrooms, archives, fieldwork sites, and study abroad experiences. Our students learn to think critically, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems--skills that will prepare them for careers, leadership and engaged citizenship. TONIGHT: Interested in Psychology? How to prepare for applying to graduate school? Careers that do not involve graduate school?

Join us from 5-6:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 28 in Anspach 161 for a night of food and conversation related to Psychology at CMU and after you graduate. The night will start with a brief information session followed by the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty and students to discuss questions and curiosities you have relating to Psychology.

Last week, the Central Michigan University Psychology Department hosted CMU alum Dr. Heidi Putney, a Clinical Forensic Psychologist with University of Massachusetts Medical School. Students were able to ask questions about what it's like to be a forensic psychologist and take part in a mock competency evaluation.

Sociology faculty member Cedric Taylor will debut his latest documentary, "A Benton Harbor Story," 6 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 29 in Plachta Auditorium. A fireside chat will follow the film screening. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Emma Norman Todd Distinguished Lecturer Series and Critical Engagements.

"A Benton Harbor Story" is a feature-length documentary examining how racism, infrastructural neglect, and the erosion of local democracy converged to create a water crisis in Benton Harbor and how a poor, majority-Black community organized and fought to save itself.
