We are honored to host Bishop Michael Pham of The Roman Catholic Diocese of SAN DIEGO at the University of Notre Dame for an event examining the current political and legal landscape of mass deportations in the United States as well as the impact on families, including Catholic families.

This event is hosted by the Klau Institute for Civil and Human Rights and the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame, both of which are part of the Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame, in collaboration with the Center for Migration Studies of New York and the Hope Border Institute.

Cosponsors include the Keough School’s Ansari Institute, University of Notre Dame and Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, University of Notre Dame, the Notre Dame Democracy Initiative, the University’s Global Catholic Research Initiative, and the Institute for Latino Studies.

Former Fox News journalist Gretchen Carlson will visit the University of Notre Dame later this month to talk about her advocacy for legislation that lifts the voices of sexual harassment victims and prevents perpetrators from keeping their abuses secret.

Carlson’s bold actions against Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes in 2016 helped pave the way for the movement. She will participate in a fireside chat with Jennifer Mason McAward, associate professor of law and director of the Klau Institute.

Anna O. Law, chair in constitutional rights and professor of political science at The City University of New York, Brooklyn College, spoke to a packed room last week at the Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame as part of the Klau Institute’s Migration Research Initiative.

The author of “Migration and the Origins of American Citizenship” delivered a historical perspective on U.S. citizenship during her public lecture. She also made time to meet with students and spoke in “The New Stratification: Immigration Policy and Human Rights,” a course taught by Professor of Migration Amy Hsin.

Walter Scheirer, a professor of computer science and engineering at Notre Dame and author of the book “A History of Fake Things on the Internet,” will present “Is Seeing Believing? AI-Generated Content and the Midterms” at the Klau Institute’s next Pizza, Pop and Politics event.

We’re looking forward to hosting Professor Anna O. Law of The City University of New York next week on campus at Notre Dame!

Law is an interdisciplinary scholar of US migration and constitutional law and history. Her book, “Migration and the Origins of American Citizenship,” was cited earlier this year in one of the amicus briefs in defense of birthright citizenship in the Supreme Court case Trump v. Barbara.

All are welcome to join us for the lecture. Lunch will be provided.
