Inspiring Innovation. Accelerating Futures.

In partnership with Atlantic City Electric, Exelon, and The NEED Project, we welcomed 40 Cumberland County high school students to the third annual ACE-Celerate! STEM Summer Camp.

Over the course of two weeks, students explored science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on activities, industry-led experiences, leadership discussions, and field trips to Atlantic City Electric's Training Facilities and The Franklin Institute.

Since 2023, this partnership has engaged more than 140 students, helping them discover new career pathways and develop skills that will shape their futures.

From energy innovation projects to conversations with industry professionals, ACE-Celerate! continues to empower students to think creatively, solve problems, and envision themselves as the next generation of the energy workforce.

Thank you again to our community partners, educators, volunteers, and students for making another incredible year possible!

We are saddened by the passing of a wonderful friend and supporter of Rowan College of South Jersey and the RCSJ Foundation, Krista Collings. Krista served on our Foundation Board for many years and dedicated countless hours to supporting our students.

For those who had the privilege of knowing her, she was committed to giving back to our community, supporting charitable causes and working alongside Chambers of Commerce throughout the South Jersey region. She was always willing to lend a hand and was a constant source of encouragement for the work of our Foundation, our College, and most importantly, our students.

Throughout her own journey, she showed incredible strength and perseverance. Even during some of her most challenging moments, she was willing to share her story with others, offering a message of hope and reminding so many what it meant to keep fighting.

Her loss is heartbreaking, and she will be missed by so many throughout our South Jersey community. The Foundation Board, Staff, and RCSJ Community at large extend our condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and everyone whose life was made a little brighter by knowing her. Every student's journey starts somewhere, and for Yeheira Acosta, one of those first steps was the ACE-elerate! STEM Summer Camp at Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland Campus. Thanks to the generous support of Atlantic City Electric, students like Yeheira had the opportunity to explore STEM, build new skills, and experience college in a supportive environment. That experience sparked an interest that led her to enroll in classes at RCSJ while still in high school, where she earned an associate degree in computer science before graduating from Cumberland County Technical Education Center (CCTEC).

Now, as a first-generation college student, Yeheira is preparing for her next chapter at Vanderbilt University, where she will major in computer science. Her impact extends beyond her own success. Inspired by Yeheira's journey, her sister is now pursuing engineering while earning an associate degree in high school (also an Ace-celerate! STEM camper!), and her father has enrolled in RCSJ to study cybersecurity.

At the Rowan College of South Jersey Foundation, we're proud to partner with Atlantic City Electric to help create opportunities that inspire students to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. Congratulations, Yeheira! We can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish next. You can read her story here:

A record 367 New Jersey county vo-tech students earned associate degrees before high school graduation, accelerating college and careers.

Every scholarship has the power to change a life, and Johanna's story is a wonderful reminder of that. Johanna was the recipient of the Eric Domurat Veterans Scholarship, and we couldn't be more proud of all she has accomplished. We can't wait to see where her journey takes her next. Congratulations, Johanna! You can check out her story here: https://www.rcsj.edu/news/rcsj-alumni-and-military-student-johanna-magner-proves-different-perspectives-open-different-paths/

RCSJ alumna and military student, Johanna Magner, takes life head on. Through her 10 years in the military with multiple deployments, to her transition to civilian life pivoting different career paths, she's gained a broader life experience than the average student. Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom wasn’t experienced all at once. Even after emancipation was declared, many enslaved people didn’t know they were free for more than two years. By the time the news reached them on June 19, 1865, they had already lost years of freedom that should have been theirs.

The stakes aren’t the same, but the lesson still applies: opportunity only matters if it reaches people. We honor the history and significance of Juneteenth today, and the work still ahead of us to ensure our students have access and equity to continue their education.
