Integrative Biology at Illinois The School of Integrative Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

In integrative biology, the emphasis is on bringing multiple disciplines to bear on complex scientific questions. One person may study how biomechanics and morphology shape the way an animal's skeleton develops and how that may have driven the animal's evolution. Another may study how brain function is affected by both ecological factors and the animal's genetics. From genomics to global change, i

ntegrative biology seeks to discover the complex interrelationships between living organisms and the physical and biological environment in which they live.

Another fantastic SIB Kickoff is in the books! 🎉

Despite the scorching weather, our students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate the start of a new academic year. It was wonderful seeing everyone connect over food and the annual IB shirt, meet with RSOs, and enjoy the energy of a campus buzzing with the excitement of a new semester. A huge thank you to all who made this event possible and came despite the heat.

Here's to a successful semester ahead!

🎉 Welcome to a beautiful start to the semester, Illini Biology! 🎉

Yesterday, our newest biology students gathered on the front lawn of the Natural History Building for a fun meet & greet. It was wonderful seeing them connect with future classmates over popsicles, arts and crafts, and the wonderful Pawfficer Stevie! We're so excited to welcome this bright group to our community and can’t wait to see all they accomplish this year.

Seven of this year's recipients of a Fulbright grant have accepted their award — and all seven are LAS students!

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers grants to academically and professionally outstanding students who are interested in furthering its mission of building international relationships and helping solve global challenges.

In the fall, these students will embark on journeys all across the world. They'll spend a year in places like Italy, Taiwan, Armenia, and more, teaching English or pursuing advanced degrees that will help them achieve their goals of ushering in a more connected and understanding global community.

We celebrate their incredible passion and ambition and wish them a wonderful and transformative experience abroad!
