Congratulations to Jackson Truitt, on being selected as the PHS Undergraduate Community Service Award winner.

Jackson is graduating with a BS in Health Science, minor in Mathematics and Public Health, and Certificate in Assistive Technology and Accessible Design. Over his time at Wichita State, he was deeply involved in Go Baby Go and founded Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes on campus. Jackson loved utilizing his engineering and health science knowledge in these organizations to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs in the Wichita area. After graduation, he will be earning his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at Northern Arizona University where he will be conducting research on wearable robotic exoskeletons for children with Cerebral Palsy.

Congratulations to Yuki To, Fall 2024 Health Science graduate, on earning multiple distinguished recognitions from the Department of Public Health Sciences: Alpha Eta Outstanding Student, Health Science Academic Achievement, and PHS Undergraduate Research. Yuki's dedication and hard work have paid off, as she prepares to begin medical school at the University of Kansas this July. Best wishes for continued success, Yuki!

Yuki To is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, along with minors in Public Health and Chemistry. Over the past three years, she has been actively involved on campus, serving as an Ambassador for the Honors College, Volunteer Coordinator for Future Healthcare Professionals, and Youth and Education Chair for the Community Service Board. She is grateful for the opportunity to engage on campus and meet so many wonderful people, many of whom she now calls friends. After graduation, Yuki plans to travel before beginning medical school at the University of Kansas in July.

The CHP Week Service Project was a big success! More than 1️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ food items and nearly $3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ were donated to the Shocker Support Locker, a resource that provides food, toiletries, baby/family products and career clothing to Shockers in need. Thank you to everyone who donated! Special shout out to the HEALTH Student Association for coordinating this project. 💛

HEALTH Student Association Executive Board Members, along with Dr. Drassen Ham, joined the Empty Bowls Wichita event!

This event brings the community together to help fight food insecurity. Participants donate handmade bowls, which are used at a chili cook-off. Attendees select a bowl, enjoy chili, and take the bowl home as a reminder of the hunger issues in our area. Proceeds go toward supporting local organizations tackling food insecurity.
