Dear Class of 2026, today is the beginning of the final chapter of your high school journey. 🎓

Every early morning, every late night, every sacrifice, every moment you questioned yourself, and every time you chose to keep going has brought you here.

As you walk into that examination room, remember that you carry more than a pen and an admission slip. You carry the hopes of your families, the lessons of your teachers, the strength you have built along the way, and the dreams of the people you are yet to become.

Take a deep breath. Trust the preparation. Believe in yourself. One paper at a time, one day at a time.

Your journey is bigger than these examinations, but today is your opportunity to show just how far you have come.

The University of the Free State wishes the Class of 2026 strength, courage, and every success as you begin your final examinations. We are rooting for you! 💙

Today, we celebrate the heritage that shapes us – from the languages we speak and the stories we inherit, to the food we share, the music we make, and the traditions that bring us together. In South Africa, our cultures are part of the everyday, passed down through generations and continually shaped by the people who carry them forward.

We hope you leave the UFS QwaQwa Campus feeling encouraged, inspired and a little more certain about the possibilities that lie ahead.

To our Grade 10 learners, we wish you well as you continue with your school journey and begin making choices that will shape your future. Keep asking questions, keep working towards your goals and keep believing in what is possible.

It was a privilege to have you with us today. We hope to welcome many of you back to UFS in the years to come.

Today at the UFS QwaQwa Campus was filled with questions, conversations, excitement and plenty of moments that made the future feel a little more real.

For many of the Grade 10 learners who joined us, today was a chance to explore, to ask the questions they have been carrying, to learn more about different study options and, perhaps, to picture themselves on a university campus one day.

The photos from today capture more than an Open Day. They capture young people beginning to think seriously about where their choices could take them.

And sometimes, that is where it all starts
