Women's Month may be drawing to a close, but at EBIT we have not lost momentum in honoring the women who continue to make a difference!
Research Matters at EBIT!
We celebrate Prof Alta van der Merwe, who has been part of the University of Pretoria since 2011, and currently a Deputy Dean at EBIT. With an extensive academic career spanning lecturing and research leadership, she continues to shape the future of Informatics and inspire the next generation of women in STEM.
Her impact reminds us that celebrating women in research is not just for a month, but a daily commitment.

Welcome to the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at University of Pretoria.

Learners got to built a paper plane factory 🛩️, ran it until it jammed, and then lecturers from the Department showed them how real engineers find the bottleneck and clear it. Same product, same people, a lot more planes out the door! The UP Way!

Congratulations, Pontsho Maruping!

UP celebrates alumna Pontsho Maruping, named Woman of the Year in Science for her transformative career spanning mining, engineering, space science and radio astronomy.

A 2006 UP graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Technology Management, Pontsho has gone on to become Managing Director of the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), breaking boundaries and inspiring the next generation of women in STEM.
