During the academic year, the Scratch Cafe @ Culinary Arts is generally open from Tuesday thru Friday The Culinary Arts Certificate program combines classroom theory with hands-on training as you rotate through two-week blocks in a commercial-grade kitchen. In addition to our programs, our students run a number of retail and service businesses on campus, including the Scratch Café, Accolades Dining Room and the retail meat store.

Friday means buffet day at Scratch Café! 🍽️

Our Culinary Arts students have another great lunch planned to finish off the week.

On Friday's buffet, we've got BBQ pork ribs, chicken and mushroom vol-au-vent, battered cod with tartar sauce, and sous vide pot roast with horseradish jus.

The lunch buffet is $19.95, and we've also got carrot and Brie soup or Manhattan seafood chowder available.

And don't forget, Friday is also our breakfast buffet! Stop by in the morning for breakfast and a fresh coffee, or pick up some baking to take home. ☕🥐

A little preview of what's cooking at Scratch Café tomorrow! 🍽️

Thursday's lunch menu includes Maui beef brochettes, chicken parmigiana, Thai green curry with poppadom, and a beef cheddar burger with bacon jam.

For soup, our students are making chicken mulligatawny and Canadian cheese soup with garlic.

And remember, you can stop by for breakfast, coffee or some fresh baking before lunch service starts! ☕🥐

It's Wednesday, and our Culinary Arts students have another great lunch planned at Scratch Café! 🍽️

Today's menu includes puttanesca pasta with grilled shrimp and garlic bread, Swedish meatballs, grilled pork chops with peppercorn sauce, and chicken souvlaki with Greek salad, tzatziki and fries.

We've also got cream of mushroom and potato and leek soup, plus a waffle with hazelnut praline, apple and whipped cream if you're in the mood for something sweet!

We've got a few new breakfast options at Scratch Café tomorrow, and those chocolate chip pancakes are looking pretty good! 🥞☕

Our Culinary Arts students will be serving up chocolate chip pancakes with dulce de leche, caramelized bananas and whipped cream, a breakfast sandwich with house-made sausage, and a mushroom and ricotta omelet.

And that's just breakfast!

For lunch, we've got chicken cordon bleu, cod Grenobloise, lamb vindaloo and a chilli dog loaded with caramelized onions and three cheeses. Plus, two soups to choose from!

We're finishing off the week with an Italian-inspired buffet at Scratch Café! 🇮🇹🍝

Our Culinary Arts students have been busy preparing Friday's lunch, and we've got chicken cacciatore, lasagna, chicken saltimbocca and porchetta with salsa verde on the menu.

The lunch buffet is $19.95 per person, and we've also got minestrone and Tuscan white bean and kale soup available.

And don't forget about breakfast! Friday is also our breakfast buffet, so stop by for a hot breakfast and coffee before starting your day. ☕🍳

So we thought we’d show you!

We’re located on the third floor of the Culinary Arts Training Building at TRU. Our entrance faces Old Main, just off Pedestrian Street.

And yes, we’re open to the public! You don’t have to be a TRU student or staff member to come eat here.

🍳 Breakfast: Tuesday to Friday, 8–9:30 a.m. 🍽️ Lunch: Tuesday to Friday, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. ☕ Coffee, fresh baking and take-home goodies are also available from 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
