Two semesters in Madrid flew by faster than our students ever imagined. ✈️

What started with a first day of studies soon turned into so much more than lectures, assignments, and classrooms. It became shared moments, new friendships, laughter, challenges, growth, and memories that will stay far beyond this chapter.

As the academic year comes to an end, a new one begins with many different paths ahead. Some of you will head into exchange semesters, some will explore new countries alongside your studies, others will continue their journey from home.

This Earth Day, the theme Our Power, Our Planet is a reminder that sustainability is not just about awareness. It is about responsibility, decisions and the way industries evolve. That is why sustainability is treated as a core discipline at HSLU’s BSc in International Sustainable Tourism.

If you want to be part of a more responsible future for tourism, now is the time to act.

The future of tourism is not just about bringing people to places.
It is about knowing how to protect what makes those places matter.

Monuments and heritage sites carry history, identity and long-term responsibility. At HSLU’s BSc in International Sustainable Tourism, this mindset is part of the programme itself. The degree includes a dedicated Natural and Cultural Heritage module, where students explore how to protect and preserve natural and cultural heritage, including through recognised sustainability standards and criteria.

Heritage is not a backdrop for tourism. Future professionals need to understand it, protect it and manage it responsibly.

If this is the kind of tourism future you want to be part of, don’t leave it too late.
