🎓🌍 International Sustainable Tourism Transnational Degree Programme in Spain & Switzerland in cooperation with UN Tourism

What happens when nature conservation meets economic development? Our students explored this question during a field trip to the UNESCO UNESCO Biosphäre Entlebuch !

From expert insights to hands-on experiences in the field, the day offered new perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of balancing nature protection with regional economic interest. And, of course, there was plenty of fun along the way! 🌱

A big thank you to our expert on site, Florian Knaus, for sharing his knowledge and bringing the realities of biosphere management to life, and to Dr Anna Amacher Hoppler, our lecturer for the Natural & Cultural Heritage module, for organising and accompanying the field trip.

Two days of learning, exploring and seeing destination management in action!

From expert talks and on-site insights to group work and hands-on tasks, our students had the opportunity to connect theory with practice and gain new perspectives on destination management in the City of Basel and the canton.

A big thank you to Urs Wagenseil, our lecturer for the Destination Management module, for accompanying our students throughout this study trip and making learning beyond the classroom possible. 🌍

Entrepreneurship in Tourism — Zurich Field Trip 🚀

What does entrepreneurship in tourism look like beyond the classroom? Our students got to find out firsthand!

Together with lecturer David Griesbach, they explored Zurich’s start-up ecosystem, visited the GetYourGuide headquarters and heard directly from co-founder Tobias Rein. At DasProvisorium , they discovered how a coworking space can act as a hub and ecosystem enabler for food and hospitality start-ups.

The day brought inspiring insights from Get Local, Coralive , CORAlliance, and Wonderfill — and a closer look at the ideas, challenges and people shaping the future of tourism and hospitality directly or indirectly.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for opening your doors, sharing your experiences so openly and giving our students a real-world perspective on what entrepreneurship means. This is what learning beyond the classroom is all about! 🙌
