🌎SGMiniMUN 2026🌎

The second edition of MiniMUN St. Gallen did not disappoint…

Last Saturday, delegates took part in a dynamic NATO crisis committee, tackling the events surrounding the 2014 escalation in Ukraine. Through diplomacy, negotiation, strategic cooperation (and some obstruction), participants worked to address a complex and quickly evolving international crisis.

A sincere thank you to everyone who helped organize and support the event, especially HSG Alumni, as well as to all delegates who travelled to St. Gallen to join us. Your participation, engagement and creativity helped make this MiniMUN as fun as it was!

We are looking forward to welcoming you again at future SGMUN conferences. 🙂‍↕️

Yesterday we held our legendary fun debate! 😎 Under the motion “Geneva Out? The Swiss Council of States debates whether Geneva is too French to remain part of Switzerland,” everything was on the table. From mandatory meal plans in Geneva, to building a wall, to the question of whether the French could even afford to buy Geneva.

In the end, Geneva was voted out of Switzerland by the narrowest possible margin, just one vote!

A big thank you to everyone for such a lively and especially entertaining debate! 🤩

Last Tuesday, SGMUN had the incredible opportunity to welcome our founder, Samuel Cobbi, a Swiss diplomat currently serving as Consul at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs 🌍

We truly appreciate that he took the time to come all the way to St. Gallen to join us. 🙌 His engaging and insightful presentation on his diplomatic career and the evolving global landscape gave us valuable perspectives on today’s world.

What made the session so special was the opportunity to ask not only professional but also personal questions, allowing for an open and honest exchange. 💬 It was an extremely enriching experience that helped make the path forward feel clearer for many of us.

Thank you for your time, openness, and inspiration!

EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner at the University of St. Gallen 🇪🇺

This Friday, SGMUN had the pleasure of welcoming EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner as a guest at the University of St. Gallen. In his keynote, he shared valuable insights into the current challenges and the outlook for European migration policy, offering students a closer look at the work of the European Commission.

During the discussion that followed, our club members and many HSG students had the opportunity to ask questions directly and engage in an open exchange on key European issues.

A sincere thank you to Magnus Brunner and Lukas Gassner for taking the time to join us in St. Gallen and for engaging so openly with our students.

As one of the leading student clubs in the field of International Affairs, it is always a privilege for us to bring distinguished speakers to campus and create opportunities for direct dialogue between students and decision-makers.

Lastly, a huge thank you to the team who made this event possible Kajsa Elin Wenger, Ella Ottenritter, Denise Kemter, Thomas Pfister, Lennart Herlyn, Beryl Hours, Leonard Hohnschild and Adrian Tanner. 🙌

This was our weekly Tuesday debate! Swipe to see more highlights! 🙌

This week, our debate on countering hybrid threats in Europe addressed, among other things, fake news, the role of AI, the influence of certain state ideologies, and stress tests as a resilience measure. 🇪🇺

Congrats to Greece for being the pitcher of the week!

We’re looking forward to seeing how the discussion continues next week. 🇺🇳
