Closing Ceremony for the Award of Joint Fellowship Certificates in Neurosurgery between Cairo and Greiswald Universities
Under the patronage of Professor Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University, and the supervision and follow-up of Professor Husam Salah, Dean of Kasr El Ainy Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, the closing ceremony for the award of joint fellowship certificates in endoscopic neurosurgery was held yesterday in Greiswald, Germany.
The ceremony saw the graduation of 11 doctors from Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, and Ethiopia.
Commenting on the event, Professor Hossam Salah Murad emphasized that this partnership represents a shining example of international cooperation in specialized medical education, emphasizing that Kasr Al Ainy remains committed to its mission of preparing world-class doctors capable of serving their communities and developing subspecialties in neurosurgery.
Professor Dr. Abdul Meguid Kassem, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, participated online. He explained that the joint fellowship represents a pioneering step in specialized surgical training, emphasizing that the cooperation between the two universities has enabled the training of numerous doctors from different countries, strengthening the network of scientific cooperation and supporting the university's role in serving research and medical practice.
In the same context, Professor Dr. Ahmed Zohdi noted that this joint program embodies the vision of Cairo University and Kasr Al Ainy to build effective international partnerships. He emphasized that its success in graduating distinguished medical cadres from several countries demonstrates Kasr El Ainy's position as an educational and research institution with an impact that extends beyond the borders of the nation.
For his part, Professor Dr. Ihab El Refaie, coordinator of the Memorandum of Understanding between Cairo University and Greiswald University and supervisor of the training program, emphasized that what has been achieved reflects the fruit of joint efforts and a shared vision between the two universities. He added that the graduation of this batch represents a humanitarian and scientific bridge extending between Cairo and Greiswald to serve patients and advance medical education.
The ceremony was organized under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ahmed Zahdi and Professor Dr. Ihab El-Refaie, and was attended from the Egyptian side by Mr. Mohamed El-Abrak, Counselor at the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin. Professor Dr. Sameh Sorour, Cultural Counselor of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Berlin, and Professor Dr. Marwa El-Daly, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Sustainable Development, also participated online.
It is worth noting that the joint training fellowship program between the two universities has been ongoing for five years, during which 92 doctors from various countries have been trained. This reflects the success of the experience and represents a model for international academic cooperation in the field of specialized medical education. Work continues to expand the horizons of this cooperation and develop new training programs that contribute to strengthening Kasr Al Ainy's position as a beacon of global education and research.
