The 2026 Situations International Conference was held at The University of Hong Kong on 22–23 October 2026. Centred on the theme “Sovereignties in Crisis: Human, Environment, Technology, and the Pharmakon,” the conference brought together scholars and researchers from local and international institutions to share their latest research and insights on these issues.

The two-day conference featured keynote addresses by novelist and scholar Mr. Chan Koonchung and Prof. Yuk Hui of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Spread across four panel sessions, 12 papers explored sovereignty through a diverse range of perspectives, including pharmacologies of power, cultural imaginaries, ecologies and technologies of attachment, and precarious bodies and (de)automatized life.

The conference provided a vibrant platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, creating valuable opportunities for researchers to engage with insightful ideas and explore new directions for critical thinking.
