Coming from Turkiye and achieving an excellent IB score of 44 🎯, Oyku begins her journey at HKU Science as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) student. 🌏🔬 For her, university is about more than academics — it is also where different passions, cultures and experiences come together. [Science Public Lecture Series: From Muddy Waters to Super Oysters: A Hong Kong Story of Innovation] (中文版本見文末)

How did a centuries-old local delicacy become the “Super Oyster,” resilient in the face of climate change and suitable for commercial use? Join us to hear how HKU scientists and growers developed Hong Kong’s native oyster into a nonreproductive triploid strain that withstands multiple stresses, enabling harvests throughout the year and sustainable aquaculture.
